Ihese are defintely some of the best DIY looking nanoleaf panels, however can you make a video explaining how you wired everything up? All you did was show you a RGB strip into 3 pieces and looses wire, then all of a suden they were connected, and had adapter wires also connected that I never saw.

Hi nice DIY, it's the cleanest looking in youtube that does not require 3D printing. I'm considering to do it myself and I have a question. Is there a reason why you scored the acrylic sheet? I thought it could help diffusing the light (and preventing hot spots) but it's the job of diffuser sheet. So I couldn't find a reason why you scored the transparent acrylic sheet. *Edit: also not sure what is the function of the transparent acrylic sheet (then later scored). Since the foam board is used as base and the opaque acrylic sheet as diffuser. Can I not use/ omit the transparent acrylic? It would speed up the making process.
@christiannettleton4174
@christiannettleton4174 3 жыл бұрын
Acrylic acts a lot like fiber optic wires, meaning you can shine light into one side and it comes out the other. The scoring catches the beam before it reaches the other side, putting off light in the middle, even though there's no LEDs there. I did a bad job explaining it, but look up LED acrylic nightlight, it uses the same tech I'm talking about.
@yohanes2034
@yohanes2034 3 жыл бұрын
@@christiannettleton4174 yeah I realized that after I tried to make this DIY. Thank you for giving the name of the effect. Just FYI for anyone who is reading my comment and trying to make this, the triangle measurement between clear acrylic and the diffuser should be different because the clear acrylic will be put inside the foam triangle which size has been reduced by the vertical/ side wall. So if the diffuser is 24 cm then the clear acrylic should be 23.4 or less. Also I use 144 LEDs/m strip because the 60 LEDs/m density is just not that bright. I've tried both and besides being brighter the 144 strip gives smoother transition as well. I spent about $50 for 9 panels plus 2 days of my time. The result is okay but nowhere near the nanoleaf quality.

Hmm, nice work but it needs a little adjusting to make the 3 corner "light spots" disappear. I wonder if adding more led's will work for example instead of filling the 3 corners, filling the 3 sides will work better... Well the brightness might be a problem then but lower powered led's might do the trick.. Also a few holes in the back for ventilation might increase the life and brightness expectancy...
