Keith: It is a bit off-topic but I would like to share this with you guys. I recently attended the Asian Superbike Championship at Buriram. The circuit made it free for schools and colleges to enter. The grandstand was packed on the Sunday with teenagers. You often speak about how MotoGP spectator base is becoming aged - it is good to see Thailand investing in the future spectator base.

The rider parade is part of the show. You cannot remove the little time for fans interaction. This is the only chance for the fans to meet & had photo with their favorite riders. I don't think it's a bad idea. Anyway fans are the ones making this sport alive & going. Without them, it's nothing. The management is starting to change their approach & it's working good. The number of people in Portimao had improved a bit compare in the previous years.

Yeah, but what is Pecco to do, just give it up without a fight back? That's not how he became a champion. He always fights back right away. Earlier in the race with Pedro, he could see, and let off and let Pedro go. The time with Marc he was on the inside hanging off the bike and couldn't see Marc trying to close the door. Marc left a space when he went wide and Pecco went for it. Marc also knew that Pecco would try to fill the space when he went wide after the pass, and still went for it. So both are to blame and both are 50/50

Calling it a race incident is fair. Pecco should have realized Marc had much more pace at that stage, let him go and took the points. BMW getting into GP now would be a big ask but if they start preparing now for when the 850cc switch comes they could have a more even starting point.

Maverick Viñales looked fantastic all weekend and when he is on it he is a top top rider, also I really like his style, looks so sharp on the bike, Martin was looking very strong and always exciting to watch on a bike, Pedro Acosta is a spectacular rider to watch, but watching the MotoGP stream I was a bit annoyed by the commentators going on about him all the time, I mean he is great, but it sounded more like when Rossi came on the scene!!! I understand excitement about new riders, but it felt too much at times.

Moto GP bikes need to be the formula one of Motorcycles. Even with all the electronics and wizardry the manufacturers can come up with to try and get that extra edge. A young champion in a satellite team can put the motorcycle on the podium in his second attempt. Pedro Acosta is A breath of fresh air for MotoGP. I think sometimes we all need to remember Racing Motorcycles is all about the riders.

The rider's parade is utterly ridiculous. Keith is right, Dorna needs to offer more bang for the buck to the fans who shell out to attend. I have never seen any of the junior cups so that's a terrific option to see instead of that "parade."

The rider parade is part of the show. You cannot remove the little time for fans interaction. This is the only chance for the fans to meet & had photo with their favorite riders. I don't think it's a bad idea. Junior Cups have always have their own time to race. MotoE is the same. So everything is fine as it is. The only problem is the Sprint Race in all the tracks. Too much physical stress for the riders twice a weekend. Sometimes it also gives us an idea who is going to win the Sunday race which loss the unpredictability of the sport. It would be better if they reduce it to 10 or even 12 a year.

"For me, it was a mistake from Pecco (Bagnaia), but not just the incident because in the end he tried to come back. It was too optimistic and contact can happen...He was suffering a lot, especially with the rear tyres. In the end when three, four laps remain, you know you will lose the position. So it's not necessary to come back in that aggressive mode, but he decided this and the consequence to Ducati is zero points." This is Marc setting a precedent for Pecco, that he will leave it to the other rider whether they want to have the crash or avoid it. Marc will position the bike in such a way that its up to the other rider whether they want to lose a point or two or risk being wiped out.

As always a fantastic episode. My thoughts... -Lose the stupid parade and give Moto 2 and 3 their warm-ups back. -Moto 2 will need to drop engine capacity with the rule changes back to 600cc tops. - I'd like to see true multi manufacturer prototype racing return to Moto 3. There's so many 300cc Street bike manufacturers, and none are really developing their bikes, my 18 R3 is pretty much exactly the same as the current model. Overall the racing is great particularly at the lower classes, and will be again in MotoGP with the limitation of aero and ride height devices. ATM everyone can pretty much brake as late as possible, carry as much corner speed as possible as put the power down again. Without the aero and the RHD it's back down to the bravery and skill of the individual rider.

You asked for comments good or bad, and mentioned the "Rider Parade." I can't watch it - and I hate to be negative because I love so much about MotoGP - because of Jack Appleyard. Not only does he come across as pushy and abrasive but he seems to take pleasure in it. He's also a "close talker (Seinfeld reference)," - and not just on this packed trailer - and the riders just don't seem to enjoy his presence. And now, they're stuck on a platform about the size of one side of their garages. I even get the feeling that Bezzechi would rather talk to Marc than to Jack. Other than that, all I have is positive comments!

To respond to the question around trackside value: I care much more about seeing the screen, timing, or at least having commentary at the track! Theres no need for an 850cc motor, lose the aero, ride height devices, and limit electronics ie traction control. We can get back to some great battles. Cant even follow riders now too long or your tire overheats and you catch a penalty. It's stupid and getting worse by the year. Put a cc limit on ALL bikes, 1000 cc max, if you want to run a 2 cylinder or V4 hope you can get it done with a 1000cc. Rules have change to let the V4 increase the cc so they could complete, now they are way faster , so now other teams have to redesign their bikes to compete with the top speeds. Its one more thing after another, it never stops. Gotta draw the line somewhere

Also, as an American, I could care less about trackhouse because some NASCAR team has them now. I hate NASCAR. The type of American that might like motogp probably doesn’t like NASCAR. The only thing that can truly revitalize American excitement is a competitive American rider.

rider parade isn't appealing at all, much rather see them give the riders some superbikes or something and do some burnouts and wheelies or drag races down the straight but that's very wishful thinking 😅

motogp iis and always will be a prototype class. All new designs and ideas whether they will ever be used in normal condition is irrelevant. All the ppl who are complaining about ride height devices and areos can go watch WSBK and every other motorcycle racing on this planet. Just let Motogp be Motogp, the most cutting edge form of motorcycle racing.

Agreed. Up to a point. The big trouble is that the bikes will outgrow tracks. Development will need to be redirected or we’ll compromise safety standards so revered by MotoGP.

@@KeithHuewen16 yes and no. Pioneers will always have their risks and motorcycle racing isn’t exactly the safest sport either to begin with. Pushing the limits has seen the new airbag suit technology become a new safety feature for many riders whether on the street or at the track. Track runoff/layout has also evolved throughout the years from barriers to grass to gravel traps to now many concrete runoffs (and airfence)so there are innovations and evolutions on all sides of the racing community to improve safety as the speed goes up. And I am sure the trend will continue. The issue is not trying to contain the speed development but to control the increment in a manageable fashion so the sport will grow with all sides without having to sacrifice the life of the riders.

Rider parade, nonsense. It annoys me when at the circuit as it's taking track time away from lower classes. When watching on tv I only turn on on sunday for the races. I'd watch a moto 2and or 3 session.
