your channel is very good. Would you make a tutorial on a weapon so we can see your workflow, I think it would help a lot in practice!

Thanks regarding the stripped matcaps, I swear people just say to use it for the sake of using it but have no idea how to use it properly to diagnose any shading issues. Thanks for covering it.

Normals are totally free from the geometry, and it doesn’t matter if there’s triangles underneath. But it helps to understand the math. There are many tools to modify the normals, how they are calculated. For a perfect hole in 10s there is also a Blender secret video worth checking out.

Normals are automatically created based on the geometry. That doesn't mean you can't use custom normals that are not set by the geo. I can not overstate this enough. The mesh is triangulated, and triangulation will effect the interpolation of the shading. This becomes extremely apparent in normal map bakes with mipmaps.

You can fix bad shading, from cutting holes, booleaning etc on any curved objects, on low and high poly with data transfer modifier. :) Love your vdos.

Hey, I commented on the previous video but I think it got deleted instantly because I shared the addon's link ahah. Have you heard about the ND addon and do you think it can be an alternative to boxcutter etc.? It's on gumroad and blender extensions, unfortunately can't link it.
