I agree! I love this and it brings back so many memories your White Sands video, The Painted Desert, I just started getting into these. I traveled a lot for about 10 years with my folks yes it sounds boring but to see all this now 40 years later is wonderful! The Petrified Forest! I thought maybe you were going to show the Winslow crater. But anyway thank you for sharing!
@PerfectLittlePlanet6 жыл бұрын
Did you go to the crater? We considered it but ultimately decided we didn't have time and didn't want to spend $18 each for just a few minutes. Do you recommend we go back and see it some time?

This whole area of route 66 is a major train hub. The tracks meet up with route 66 in Holbrook all the way to San Bernardino and LA. Great video!
@PerfectLittlePlanet6 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! I didn't realize the tracks follow Route 66 all the way into California. That's cool! -Brian

We are doing Route 66 right now. I didn't know about the Route 66 passport program, will have to pick one up before we finish it (on this leg of a trip we are going from LA to Oklahoma City).

Hey Brian and Isa....just found your site and really enjoying your videos....Don't know how far you two go back to review comments, so will post anyway...My Wife and I try to hit several Rt.66 spots each time we go West....We have been to Winslow and the Standing on the Corner Park...Have been to many of the places you two have been....Went out West last year beginning June, and plan to go again this mid to end May....We are older than you guys....nice that you are doing it while you are young....Also didn't know about the passport you two spoke of....we'll see if we can make 7 places out of 10....Well all the best to you two......Hank and Pam from South Texas

Hi Hank and Pam, we reply to every comment! We love our little internet community here. What are some of your favorite Route 66 spots that we didn't hit? We'd love to see more stuff on our next trip out there. -Brian

@@PerfectLittlePlanet...We have been to Needles, Calif and Chloride, Arizona and intend to visit Seligman, Arizona this May trip....You should look it up on line....It's a really cool Rt.66 old town...And you already know about Winslow(we will stay at the La Pasada Hotel this year)....I am looking forward to taking lots of pics of the 90 trains that pass each day....As I am a train buff....will comment on further on your videos as I continue to view….Hank and Pam!!

Great video...! My father and I got on Route 66 in 1969... L.A. and we got off somewhere in Texas. I was 19 yr. old and I stole a "petrified rock from this park." I am in the process of sending it back. It belongs there. I was young...it's going back to the park where it belongs...I'm now 65.

Must have been a much different drive back in 1969. Do you remember what you were driving back then? Glad you're sending the rock back. -Brian
@sjstyx6 жыл бұрын
unfortunately if you send it back they can not place back in the desert. just ends up in a pile at the end of a service road.

Look into the Thundetbolts Progect and consider reassessing the petrafication process.
@PerfectLittlePlanet4 жыл бұрын
Interesting. How would electric instant petrification explain the different minerals and colors that make up the petrified wood? If the same charge petrified all the wood, shouldn't it all be pretty identical in look and composition?
@LtBRS4 жыл бұрын
@@PerfectLittlePlanet A lot of variables in charge duration and amplitude, tree species, environment, tree organic up-take, etc. One would almost expect the variations discovered. Come to think of it, the establishment scientific narratives don't account for the observations that you correctly bring up.

My keychain is Route 66 sign, I never experienced to ride on it, absolutely beautiful adventure

It's different than we thought. A combination of abandoned, run-down places and super cool restored old places. It's definitely unique and worth seeing, so hopefully you'll be able to get out and drive it some time. -Brian

Where did you get the passport to start with? Where do you have to get to go get the certificate? We only have two and half weeks from WNY want to stay in some old time fun places and see interesting places. Have to stop in Colorado Springs. We are late 60’s so probably not go walking miles.
@PerfectLittlePlanet6 жыл бұрын
We got our passports in the Flagstaff visitor center, but you can pick them up in any city's visitor center along Route 66. You have to get at least 7 out of the 10 stamps to qualify for the pin and certificate. Each visitor center has them, so wherever you get your 7th stamp, you'll collect the pin and certificate there, too. We didn't do much walking along Route 66. Mostly just driving to each site. Have fun! -Brian

You're welcome. Be sure to check out their Airforce Academy and the little town closer to the garden of the gods called Manitou Springs. They have a retro outdoor/indoor arcade. Just don't get on the kid rides, they'll scold you. I know from experience. All this with the great Pikes Peak mountain looking over.

Hahaha, thanks for the tips. Especially about the kids rides. We'd totally be scolded as well. :)
