An additional note to the Harmonic Minor and its Latin vibe, one of the most common chord progressions is what you call as the Andalusian Cadence which is vi-V-IV-iii7 (all relative to the tonic of its relative major scale) where the first 3 chords can be covered usually by the minor scale and minor pentatonic while in the 4th chord (that acts as the V7 of the vi chord thus acting as a dominant seventh chord ) you can literally use the Harmonic Minor scale emphasizing the raised 7th or completely using the Phrygian Dominant Mode of the said scale. The iii7 chord resolves back to the iv. This concept is prevalent in flamenco music as well.

Awesome video. Pretty good sounds and lessons of Santana guitar style. It's a tribute to a great guitarist and music creator who's work is etched in the history of Latin rock as he burst onto the stage of Woodstock, and kept on rocking the world.

Santana played lead lines in a modes like Dorian, he often used pentatonic blues scales which i think no one can interpret or explains quite how he does it

Great demo, I like santana's musics he play very well with so emotional touch and the sounding of his guitar is amazing. He paly very clean and well. I think all his compositions are made only on dorian mode. Dorian mode is minor mode, reason of the sadness sound.

You have to mean it and if you feel it and mean it then i will move others. This takes a surrender and you must have soul or it wont work, you must have something inside that feels. If theres ego or anything in nthe way it wont work. You can play perfectly but if one isnt in the right heart and mind it wont move. Every notemust be thought about even if its simple it must be given 110 perc ent of you mind body and soul. Perfecto here is a good soul therefore he plays from the right place and its authentic. Youre a righteous dude Perfecto De Castro!

Hi! Thank you so much for this lesson, you're awesome!! 😀👍 I play bass but I've finally bought a PRS S2 one year ago and (I guess) all the available songbooks from Santana (including rare ones from Ebay) on the last semesters... ...but with these easy patterns of Dorian (including 5th b) and Aeolian, you've helped me so much!!! (Can I say that Bass players love visual patterns without being lynched? - in any bass magazine, we're used to read it due to our string tunings 😉). So, once again thanks a lot and please feel free to keep on tutorials with such training schemes! Moreover, without knowing this point, I've ordered a Tonex pedal two days ago and I'm very glad to learn from your video than a Snake MB capture in embedded as I don't own it on my Amplitube mesa packs (I and II). Cherry on the cake! I will have to train on some latin rhythms next week end! 😉 Conclusion : you get a new subscriber!!!! Cheers from France!!! 🍷🍺

12:50 can also be interpreted as D dorian if played over the D chord. the dorian relative of A minor. puro dorian hahahahaha. not sure lang how it sounds over a D7 or a D major but I reckon it could be spicy.

Doctor Spock, Kun Fu, Shinigami Slayer, Big in Japan, Aragorn, Herzl Eyes, The Indian, and my personal favorite "Eat your vegetables". I wish to secretly punk Steve Lukather using an RP350 to sound like him on Runnin with the night. Perhaps THEN Kimbra will make me some of her Coffee.
