Why did you go with a thicker head gasket? On a 196 with a stock rod the piston is most likely .035" or more in the hole at TDC. For that you want the thinnest head gasket you can find for maximum compression with what you have. I should stop there because I might start sounding too negative. What matters most is that you are happy with the build.

Thanks for telling me I was just trying to be safe but now I know I could have put the thinner gasket in. I learn something new everyday. Thanks for not running me down too
