@masterknives555Ай бұрын

DANG!!! I wish you had some nickel powder, or some other steel powder that you could have filled each disc's holes with before you welded them all together.... that way each hole would have a good chance of staying more circular while forging and then when you ground the knife down you would see remnants of the circles.... - Ahh well.... there is always next time, right? - I think that is a purchase you should make, and it would open up a lot of new ideas for you... but I have no idea which metal powder would be the best one for you.. I have no idea what the differences are... and that's why I'm WATCHING the video about KNIFE MAKING and not CREATING THE VIDEO about knife making - YOU are the MASTER/PROFESSIONAL (and a really good one too :D )

Not everyone is the same. Some have powers that can protect themselves. You can see in real life example on KZbin "Carok Hasan vs Mat Tanjar" duel between 2 vs 10 people using "celurit" traditional knife. 2 people win, 4 out of 10 die. These 2 people have the power to not be hurt by sharp weapons. Another example is that there are people who can fry food using their hands directly dipped in hot oil without getting hurt. I hope Master knives also has spesial power to protect himself for getting hurt. But still using safety stuff is more better to give good example for all people.

I noticed this as well. He should have filled the holes in the plates with powdered metal, and welded on the solid plates as he filled each ring. Then, when he drew out his billet, he should have oriented these holes so the they would appear on each side of the knife (instead of the way he did, which was vertically from blade to spine). Is it was, the holes were simply sealed shut when the billet was formed, so there was nothing there to create any sort of contrast. He may as well have used solid pieces. The only contrast was from the thinner plates he used, and with nothing but a straight forging and a single set of folds, this design was never going to be anything more then a small handful of of thin slightly wavy stripes.

When you are CUTTING with the ANGLE GRINDER, DO NOT PUSH DOWN HARD TO CUT FASTER! This ONLY destroys the disc faster! I've seen two different video of people testing if it is better to push down hard on the cut or let it use it's own weight or GENTLY PUSH DOWN and BOTH VIDEOS SHOWED THAT GENTLY PUSHING IS THE BEST WAY :) The only thing you are doing is cutting a LITTLE BIT FASTER but at the cost of DESTROYING THE CUTTING DISC - And when you cutting into quarters after the first forge/drawing out, it sure looks like you are PUSHING VERY HARD.... Yes it seems like this is VERY HARD TOOL STEEL, but you SURELY CAN eat through 2 cutting disc with those few cuts - - - You can test this for yourself with 2 new cutting discs... using the same piece of steel that is the same size for each cut just make two cuts punishing down hard and then 2 cuts gently pushing.... the 'pushing hard' cuts will be a little but faster but you will surely see how much more of the cutting disc is GONE! :) (If you weren't pushing hard at all, and that amount of sparks is just from the steel then I AM VERY SORRY and I did not intend to insult your skill or knowledge... I only wanted to help if I could :) )
@masterknives55526 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for the detailed explanation and thoughtful advice! 😊 You’re absolutely right about the impact of pushing too hard on the angle grinder-it does wear down the cutting disc much faster. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and the results of those tests. In some cases, the sparks might just be from the type of steel, but I’ll definitely pay more attention to my technique to ensure I’m not overloading the disc unnecessarily. Your suggestion to test both methods is a great idea-I’ll give it a try and see the difference for myself. No offense taken at all! I truly value input like this-it helps me improve my work and processes. Thanks again for taking the time to share this! 🔨😊✨

This guy: casually forge-welds parts of an 1980s era meat ginder face/shield/sieve/screen (whatever it's named) with holes in it, not caring about any leftover air inside... and succeeds...
