I really enjoyed this video! I am in NH and in my second year (first year hives lost to bears). I am busily trying to evaluate my hives and where they should be in August and help to prep for winter. The detail you provided was incredibly helpful. I would love to see more of this type of content month by month. Thank you so much for putting this together!!

Your honey production is looking very promising. The goldenrod is producing more and more blooms everyday here. I really want to check my hives but I did a Formic Pro treatment Sunday. The instructions say leave them alone so I will for a few more days. I have deep supers on but no excluder. If there is enough of a flow going to have the frames about 50 percent or better drawn I would like to add the excluders. Hopefully more supers if the Formic didn't mess the bees up. The first couple of days things around the hives looked kind of rough but they look more normal now. I see pollen going in so maybe the queens a lived.

A few more weeks of honeyflow can work wonders!

How can you identify a virgin queen vs. a mated queen?

There are more detailed signs than I am aware of buy generally they are much smaller and more slender...they are also far more active runners on the comb.

I use a mix of Ultra bee and Bee Pro from Mann Lake, mixed with sugar syrup.
