Roy Beckerman everyone uses tape now. Traditional tuning is just not practical anymore. It takes years to learn, an hour to do, and most likely won’t last you the entire performance. Not everyone has that time, especially working drummers

Mark is the Idea nerd of drumming. Love the way he puts the beat where you just don't expect it then makes the groove soo damn elastic. "I LOVE THIS KATZ RHYTHMICAL MIND". His cymbal sound combination is always fresh and different. Remember it's all ideas and energy until we add technique the form . Thats why I call it DRUMNASTICS. Thanks Mark. LOVE U DUDE!!!

+D.J. Mays Most drummers wouldn't know how to listen to this, much less play it.
@MrDarkstar620
@MrDarkstar620 8 жыл бұрын
+D.J. Mays There are technical explanations for it. I don't know the time myself, but that same rhythm on the bass has a pattern. I'm sure after hearing this many times now there's a more simple time signature that can be found to help find the time that's really arranged for this. Only experienced readers can really near an understanding of whatever that time is.
@MrThatscute
@MrThatscute 8 жыл бұрын
+D.J. Mays I think the part with the type writer hits is in 4 and the next section is in 5? Right?
@MrDarkstar620
@MrDarkstar620 8 жыл бұрын
+Spencer Zick I think you have it right... or close. The main thing I listen for is hearing the one beat and finding it again. That always helps. But you still could be right. When they do common time and odd time following up, there's usually some off the wall time signature; things like 7/16 or sometimes 9/4. I'll be looking more into this.
@yrussq
@yrussq 8 жыл бұрын
+Christian Lee Never understood why anybody would care about time signatures when they have no real meaning for players most of the time. They matter when the placement is totally mind blowing in some particular parts and you count the bar. Ok. But even this case you could possibly be unaware of a signature - just count from the note you are sure when to play. Time signatures for composers not players. And anyway if you want to play outside the learned material you should feel the signature because no way you'd play a descent solo while counting 9\8 silently.
