I would say yes. The smaller batteries are really high on cold cranking amps, but not so high in terms of output. You would probably have to go to the next size up on the battery application chart and to be safe, add up all the electrical requirements of your additions and put that against the OEM stator output amount.

I've seen the stators go out around that mileage and replaced them with the K6 and 7. Check the voltage across the terminals at 5,000rpm. It should be over 14 consistently. If it is 13 or less, then the stator may be on the way out. At that point, you have run tests on each component starting with the stator and working up the line (regulator then battery).

Oh it works now, I have a A+ shop that maintains it. I was just wondering if you, a person with experience, has come across this problem often with the k6 and k7. and thanks for the reply

@hughes111 ah yes, Mr. Hughes spots a proverbial oooppssss. It is considerable and we will be testing it at Miller post WSBK. Dave Moss Host

nice channel, I found it from the wheelie vids haha. I have a question, do you find regular problems with k6, k7 gsxr's? Because my charging system failed at 20k miles and it feels it might go out again. My starting system (by the throttle also went out at 21k). eseensially do you find these problems often or is it just my bike?

Being a smaller battery..does that mean it can't take as much of a load?? For example I have installed an amplifier w/speakers, HID lights, a Power Commander, neon lights...etc I realize this is all ready a lot to load on a sportbike..lol

i have a ballistic 12 cell, about 2 months old, recently my bike went completly dead, put a volt meter on the battery got 2 volts. scratched my head, cursed, took the battery out put it on charge for about 4 minutes went back to make sure the battery was taking a charge and to my surprise the battery was at 12.5 voltts again. can somebody tell me wtf just happened??? im assuming it has a protection built in that stops it from frying???
