The sheer balls of putting 10K miles on a vehicle and labeling it bulletproof. Mine has 40k and I'd feel ashamed if I said something so bold. Also titled the video "long list of problems" then says "I'm having trouble coming up with things". Holy clickbait.

I just picked up mine Tuesday, has ~210 miles on it. I thought the same exact thing when he said "bulletproof" and "rock solid". Now, if you can go 102k miles in 6 years without a single issue, changing only oil, air filters, tires, and brake pads (as I did with my last new car), Id call that bulletproof in terms of "reliable new cars". But even 50k miles without issue should be the standard at least, not some extraordinary goal that's impossible to reach. 🤦

I would agree, until yesterday. I waited over a year for mine. Got it in Oct 2023. XLT Hybrid. It rolled over 9000 miles yesterday. I have babied it since I got it. I was in Eco mode and driving down hill temp was about 78, taking it easy as always. Heard a rattle and looked back to see smoke behind me. Odd. But nothing on instrument panel. Kept going a few minutes later same thing slight noise from rear of truck ???? then some smoke. Then instrument panel came on! Service engine soon. I open Ford App and got these 2 notices: Service Engine Soon and Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power. I pulled over turned it off. (reboot?) Then I kept going. Oh no Ford don't let me down! Attempted to continue drive home but soon found out max speed was 40 mph -going down hill. It was terrifying! I was on 4 lane highway. Extremely DISAPPOINTED!!! Then may end my relationship with Ford.

I've been in the undercoating racket for many years. NEVER spray paint!! Get your Maverick undercoated with Fluid Film ASAP, then again this Fall, then you'll be good for a yearly spraying. In theory a person should undercoat the day they drive it off the car lot.
@JonnyBladeSwitch5 ай бұрын
I've also heard the best time to undercoat is summer because the oil will be less viscous and therefore get into more of the tight areas where if you do it in the fall when it's cool it may stay thick and not get into every little spot
@TheBeatenPaths5 ай бұрын
@JonnyBladeSwitch You're correct, it'll creep better in the warm weather too. But the main reason to spray a new vehicle is to protect it as soon as possible and prevent the rust from starting in the first place. Plus, in the Summer months the chances of it washing away is much lower. A Fall spraying, especially in the salt belt, will get washed away from snow & slush etc.

2022 Ecoboost XLT AWD owner with all the options approaching 45K miles...no issues other than recall notices I haven't dealt with.
@joelnorberg5 ай бұрын
LOL… try driving one past 6500 miles and your story may change. I purchased one of the first 2022 Maverick XL Ecoboost 2.0, AWD, 4K tow package (still a base model) in Fall of 2022 near Seattle and at 32k my rear differential/driveline had to be replaced due to improper machining and a small vibration just got worst as I drove it. During the pandemic they didn’t have a fix, so I had to wait a YEAR for replacement part upgrades. They told me to keep driving it (yep, it got worse) and they would replace anything damaged. They finally called me 10-1/2 months later at 58k miles and replaced them. Whew… It’s 2-1/2 years later and I’m almost at 93k. Yep, I drive over 3k a month mostly freeway. Now I’m taking my transmission in because it chatters in 2/3/4 gears searching for a gear. Freeways it’s smooth. We’ll see what happens. I’ve done all maintenance, run full synthetic fluids, etc… so even with detailed maintenance schedules… there are issues. Lastly, the infotainment systems stinks. My iPhone continually disconnects when on hands-free calls, the rear camera has remained “stuck” on when I shift into drive and I have to stop, park, shut off the engine… then turn it back on and drive away (without going into reverse) to get it to clear. The software is extremely slow and I’ve done regular software updates as available. Now I get it… I purchased the “cheapest” Ford truck… and it’s true, I can’t really be disappointed because I definitely “got what I paid for”, marginal reliability. I will say ONE great thing about this truck. The mileage has been great. With almost 93k miles freeway/in town driving mix… I average 26 mpg. Full freeway on a trip I avg 30 mpg. Yep, even over 90k mileage. So my complaint is more about running gear/transmission and electronics. I haven’t had any issues with the motor with full synthetic. So, that’s my feedback. I’ve watched videos with extreme differences. Knowing what I know now… I will “invest” more into a Japanese Truck and go that route. I don’t need anything past a small truck like this, so for me that’s fine. I’m sure the Ford Super Duty line is much better, I would hope so for $70k - $105k. :) All the best! Joel

The title of this segment is misleading click-bait. I have a hybrid XLT that has given me only one problem, and that's the grabby brakes. Fortunately, Ford offered a software update to fix it. But it was not a required "recall" so many owners did not hear about it. Do some research if you have the problem. Ask your service writer, if you have the issue. Beyond that I have done 3 recalls and have two pending. I am fortunate to be close to a Ford dealer, so I can generally hold off on recalls until my annual oil change. But, that's a lot of recalls. I have less than 9000 miles after 2.5 years. Gas mileage is great, particularly around town. I just replaced the stock Continentals with Michelin CrossClimate tires, and it makes a positive difference in the way the truck feels and handles. Looking forward to trying them this winter. The stock tires were crap in snow. But that is much the FWD (sngle wheel drive) as the tires.

100% this. That said I'm fine with a 'cheap' car and I've done a couple fairly long trips in my Maverick, but the ways it breaks are just confounding. CV Axles appear to be a big weakness as far as wear, especially due to the difficulty in labor to replace. Software updates for tail lights that cause your vehicle to slam into limp home mode while at highway speeds. Weird design decisions and issues that let me compare the 'days in shop' between a 12.5 and 2.5 year old car and it's neck and neck. That said If I can, I'm thinking of just trading it in when the hybrid Forester or Crosstrek comes out.

Good video but hard to subscribe when your title is clickbait and misleading. I think its fine to be a fanboy also.

Why there should be any issue with a vehicle with 10k miles lol
@geoleo25976 ай бұрын
Have you checked hidden areas like the CV joints and transmission? I’m reading on forums about folks finding leaks there with less than 10,000 miles on some of their trucks. I just read about another owner who found her driveway full of (unidentified) fluid. All these issues and many recalls and none of these trucks have anywhere near 100k miles and are only 3 years old at most. This shouldn’t happen. I’m not confident in these making it very far without something happening.

VOLKSWAGEN is by far the worse vehicle I have ever owned. The Chevrolet, Pontiac, Mitsubishi were way better cars than my VW. Nothing but computer, technology, mechanical issues.

Great video, and I bleed Ford Blue, but really, how can you say things like “bullet proof “ and “rock solid” after owning one for 6 to 10k miles? Most people I know would put that many miles on one in a couple of months, and plan to drive it until it’s paid off. How about making a real world video after 80 to 100k? Realistically, who would go buy a newer car every 6 to 10k miles?

I’ve never owned a car longer than 6 months to a year that is not one of my fun cars. So unfortunately I would not be able to do that. Funny enough- just after making this video we took the hybrid on a 2,000 mile road trip and the check engine light came on.

Buy a new truck every 6 months... yeah I'd likely have zero issues as well. What a joke.

I like how people made fun of Honda for years about their truck. Then copies it, and now it's wonderful. I also found it funny that you say I have had no issues taking a four hour trip in it. Wow, how amazing is that! I have a Honda with almost 300,000 miles and would drive it all the way across the country without an issue.

Honda has a truck? Oh... you mean the Ridgeline, which is not comparable to the Maverick in any conceivable way? 😅

Maverick looks like the Explorer SporTrac from 10yrs ago. Just renamed it . I never keep a Ford past 100k but I like them

Once you get several hundred thousand miles on a vehicle then you can call it reliable and bulletproof, but Ford does not fall into that category. None of their newer vehicles would last that long.
