Taemin doesn’t have formal training. He debuted really young, at 14, but he was already pretty proficient in popping because he just had a natural passion for dance and he would study his idols like MJ and Rain. I have noticed from some of his dance practices and behind the scenes moments that he is really detail oriented when it comes to expressions and showmanship so I wouldn’t be surprised if he polished his skill by looking at classically trained dancers or maybe even dancing with his bestie Kai who did have that kind of knowledge base.

Funny how you didnt notice Key as much in the MV. Some of us Shawols were say thst this is Key’s era. Haha. Maybe you were too distracted by Minho’s abs and everything else got blocked out 😂. Anyway, Key’s voice is so distinct. Pls also listen to hitchhiking and Stranger. His voice is a unique “sarcastic” n “skeptical” tone. Don’t ask me why but when i hear his voice, these 2 words come to mind and it fits so well with the lyrics of this song. The way he sang and emphasised the word “ccccccallllliiiinnnng” is my favourite part. Haha.

You are right about Taemin being self taught because when he auditioned for SM, he basically taught himself about popping and dancing in general by watching Michael Jackson and Rain a lot when he's young. After getting accepted for SM, he might have receive training for Ballet or Contemporary from the dance trainers inside the company but Taemin did spoke about his wish to be more involved with Contemporary dancing style back in 2015 and he achieved that by releasing Sayonara Hitori at 2016 with Sugawara Koharu as his choreographer, also the one who helped to choreographed lots of his solo and some of SHINee's songs too. He also released Flame Of Love, another Japanese single focusing more on Contemporary dancing cause he wanted to show a different side of him, something like that. He had ventured to lots of Contemporary style and even added some of it on his normal dancing but yeah to answer your question, it's true that Taemin is self taught. Oh and I find it amusing you're referring to Haechan here because Haechan is inspired from Taemin which is amazing cause both of them are amazing dancers. Also I think the "hands" choreo you're talking about is a part of Cherry Bomb? The one where Haechan traveled from one side to another

For Taemin, he taught himself popping and locking after watching Michael Jackson. He's always had really good fluidity which you can see in his audition dance. I don't think he's had formal ballet training but I'm sure SM had him do more dance training and stuff to help him branch out into other styles

Taemin never had ballet training and sm never helped him branch out. Sm doesnt do that for their artists. Everything is done on the artist's own accord. Taemin is known to be a workholic and never stops working on the details and diversifying his style

I feel like Key is the most overlooked Member when it comes to dancing (and vocals too tbh) Many people don't know that he's actually lead dancer and amazingly percise & powerful. Dances like Good Evening or I want You, really do highlight thee nergy and percision he has, he just somehow always slips under peoples Radar and it's kinda sad tbh. I'm glad tho that since this comeback, people seem to give him a bit more attention and he gets more compliments on his talent in both singing and dancing.

@@daysjours well i've watched some reactions from people and most of them were like "omg didn't know key is such a good dancer" and "wow, keys singing has improved so much. I never knew he could sing so well." It's no doubt he gets overlooked often because many people just think of him as the sassy & funny member.

NCT's Haechan has done countless interviews over the past few years ever since his debut with NCT and whenever there would be questions where he would be asked about his role model, his favorite singer and his ultimate idol, Haechan's answer never change. It has always been SHINee's Taemin for Haechan.

One of SHINee's strong point is their Harmonization. I wouldn't blame you if you didn't know who's singing because the amount of back tracks they have are alot. If you'll watch their encore stage and their behind recording you'll see that they almost overlap when singing. Which is also prominent if you'll watch their old live performances you can see 2 or 3 of them singing at the same time on a part.

I forgot where i watched it but it's on one of his japan solo promo, it was koharu. She said that once you taught him something he really adapts the choreography even though it's difficult and he does it really well which impressed her which made her think 'so he can do it' . He was self taught when he was young. He learned proper dance while in training in SM. There are accounts from some choreographers that laud taemin as a hard worker he practices as much as he can.

9:33 I don't think Taemin did ballet training but I know that he was a selfthaught until he started training under SM in 2005 when he was 11. As a child he used to learn dance moves while watching people dancing on TV and he copied what they were doing. When he auditioned he had already impressive dancing skills for his age and considering that he never had formal training. So even though I don't think Taemin did ballet I believe that he could have easily selftlearn some moves.

That's why alot of people were very impressed with his turns/spins (I don't know the exact term in ballet 😅) . But it was self taught, he was inspired by Michael Jackson.. Yes, it can get very tiring as they do these shoots over and over. If you've seen any of the behind the scenes for Studio Choom it's not one take. They also shot the relay dance same day, definitely worth a watch if you want a laugh. Taemin is a perfectionist. He studies and practices to the point of exhaustion, but he's said that he just wants to become a better performer and artist all around. That's why when he had trouble singing, he practiced and practiced day and night until he got it right. Now everyone knows how incredible he is at singing- but he has done the same with his dancing.He will never think it's enough- that's what I love about him. He's greedy for self-growth and improvement- and that's always the best thing in an artist. The best thing is that we have all seen the results of his hard work.

taemin's dancing changed a lot after he started to work with koharu sugawara who is a contemporary dance choreographer. she made the choreographies for sayonara hitori, flame of love and most notably move. her influence changed taemin's dancing a lot and he became far more versatile and i think he even understood dancing better. it's probably that influence you see here.

Even tho Taemin didnt have formal ballet training, he is very detail oriented dancer during his early days as an idol. SM do have training in every types of dancing for their idols soo i think Taemin did took a couple of dance classes like ballet.. In his instagram he even followed a ballet dancer named Sergei Polunin..

Even thou minho is sooo tall imagine (6feet) he is a very good dancer. Usually tall members kinda struggles in dancing but minho is very sharp with his movements. 😲🔥❤️

Minho, Lucas and Jeno I think are beautiful examples of athletes who weren't natural dancers but learned and became such dynamic dancers. They aren't as smooth or fluid as taemin and Co but their masculine energy and explosive power are just as expressive too. The Clon DJ Koo made a great point about how their heavily muscled builds makes them move differently

i feel like the reason Taemin puts alot of effort in how he moves his hand is that he did mention that his hand is a bit on the smaller side (more like his insecurity i guess) so by him extending it or curling them in some ways it gives off that illusion that his hand is long ,h
