Hello, I have done the same procedure for a compression test and the results are not as expected. Could you give me instructions to enter the compression data in ANSYS and the boundary conditions? Thanks..

Thanks for the video, congratulations on your work. A question: Could you also convert the engineering stresses to real ones at first and compare the simulation with the Von Mises results provided by ANSYS? Thanks!!😃

Thanks for the video! It has been really useful for me to define and calibrate polymer materials. The only thing i think it's wrong is that in the last comparison between experiment data and simulated data, you are comparing forces with stresses and as expected cross section is changing throughout the experiment, then it may not be comparable, right? thanks anyway, very nice job.

Thank you for your comment, we're glad that you liked it. Regarding your note, in the video we only compare the numerical values of the force-displacement curve with the engineering stress and engineering strain. The engineering stress is calculated with respect to the undeformed configuration (change in the area of cross section is not taken into account) which is why we compare against it. Also, they have same numerical values due to the unit dimensions of the cube. Please refer to the video from time stamp 12:32, we provide an explanation in more detail. I hope this helps!

Thanks for the video it really helps me understand how to preform the curve fitting ! I have question to ask, I am trying to simulate Dielectric Elastomer Actuator, and I already defined my material using the curve fitting tool in ANSYS. But, now I want to apply cyclic loading in terms of (voltages and frequencies) to my Dielectric Elastomer Actuator and find the deformation of the Elastomer. Frankly, I really do not know how I can do this simulation I can not find any references or tutorials. If you can help me with anything will be much appreciated. Thank you again!

@@AnsysLearning Thank you for your reply! I am actually a member in Ansys Forum and I searched for anything that is related to simulation of dielectric elastomer but I could not find any. Because, as I know that simulation of dielectric elastomer is complicated and it requires iterations between two physics fields for convergence. And I really can’t find any thing that can help me what to do and if it is really possible to preform such a simulation in Ansys. Your help is highly appreciated!

Isn't it just sad that a really well organized video like this one only has 341 views but stupid garbage out there with people acting like idiots have hundreds of millions of views. The only thing I would add to this one is use frictionless support to lock the three faces during the single element study. That's something that your very own folks at CAEI pointed out to me. Secondly, one should talk about the potential of adding a little bit incompressibility or talk about how to modify element formulation to U-P. These are all necessary things to learn to be able to run this realistically.
