PERFORMING THE ULTIMATE SACRED RITUAL! - Strange Horticulture Finale

**VIDEO SPOILERS BELOW** Strange Horticulture review, starting with what I liked: - The charm of this game is undeniable. Every aspect of this game makes the player feel that they're a part of this world and draws interest to the greater mystery. - The story is amazing compared to other video games (that is to say, it's decent). It seems that the challenges where you can give a customer one of two plants leads to a diversion in the plot, so I can't speak to all of the story. The choices themselves were executed fluidly, but some of them felt unimpactful. The map itself added to the plot, each of the several dozen marked locations had a unique backstory, and some unmarked locations gave us a glimpse into the main character's thoughts. - Every item felt great to use. Allowing the player to organize papers on their desk however they wanted was a nice touch. - The puzzles to locate a spot on the map were engaging and varied. I was always excited to see where I'd end up. - Using plants to further the plot at various map locations was exciting. Failing one of those trials felt more suitable for rising dread than simply failing to give a customer the right plant. - Potion crafting was neat. - I love how the final ritual appeared to be a "one attempt" sort of task. It seemed to have a real consequence, and hopefully I am not wrong in thinking that. Either way, it was very fun to solve - a smooth combination of riddles and plant sleuthing. - The art style and music in general was wonderful. What I didn't like: - Finding a plant for a customer was only sometimes fun. After the initial novelty wore off, it was mostly repetitive. There were a few customers that would ask for plants that you've already identified in an attempt to immerse you into being a shop owner further, but it came off as filler. Gaining rising dread by failing a shop task felt shoehorned in. - As you accumulated more and more plants, the need for an assistant to sort them became dire. In the late game, you would either need to spend an incredibly long time organizing them once or spend a long time finding a specific plant for each customer request. - Plant identifying rarely became more challenging, but instead was more tedious because of the sheer number of plants to sift through. - When trying to do the endgame content, I realized that the plot was truly the driving force of the game. Without it, the tasks felt less interesting as the mechanics do not stand well by themselves. - While most were fun, none of the puzzles were particularly creative or deep. That's fine for most people, but I prefer a game with richer puzzles. Overall rating: 6/10 (Good)

Personally, I thought this game was fun. It did some things well, and I enjoyed the puzzles for finding new plants. Unfortunately this game actually gave me huge headaches for some reason (likely the eye strain from looking at such small text) which really messed with my experience. I got the same ending as you did, and apparently there are multiple ones you can get, but I just cannot be bothered. I don't think I have ever gotten headaches from a game, so that's rough.

Maybe you might have had an easier time sifting through the plants if you sorted them as you got them. That way you wouldn't need to spend an inordinate amount of time sorting all of them at once. Instead sorting them one by one as you got them. I'd probably try sorting them by color at least and seperating mushrooms and non-flower bearing plants. Putting all the berry bearing plants in one section wouldn't be that hard either. Regardless, it was definitely an interesting game.

Editor did him dirty at 23:26. The description reads: Caballia flowers almost always contain six petals. Finding a SEVEN petaled flower is considered to bring GOOD FORTUNE. Thus, a LUCKY Caballia flower would have SEVEN petals.

"wasn't the most popular series" I quite enjoyed it, and it's the wife's favorite one so far. She really loved the narrative-driven, 'videogame storytime' aspect of it and listening to all the correspondence, dialogue, notes, etc. as you played through.

For those that are interested and don't want to play this game themselves/look up the other endings, here are some other ones (spoiler warning duh) : Going the same route as Aliensrock did but giving Thea (jade mask woman) widow's woe instead of dead mans fingers and then performing the ritual will kill Thea and her father (the detective guy) Going the cult route allows you to set the Dendrew free. A lot of cult members and Thea die but you survive and become the new cult leader. The Dendrew is now unstoppable and terrorizes everyone. You can kill the rich guy by first giving him a plant that causes skin rashes and then giving him a plant that causes insanity and death. This has no plot influence. Should you kill him though you get visited by cops during the epilogue. You can decide to be detained willingly or murder the cops You can take control of the Dendrew by following Faye's plan. You need to give Thea widows woe again and create the potion of control and go to long Meg. Then you use the binding vines plant on Faye and drink the potion. Everyone survives this ending but you become one with the Dendrew, slaughtering a lot of people but you dont attack people you consider friends. You can also save the Sisterhood girl by offering the other flower at the altar. Thats about it i think? The other endings are minor variations of these endings (such as failing to take control of the Dendrew by giving Thea dead mans fingers and needing to go into hiding forever or some characters that could ve lived ending up dead such as the Sisterhood girl, Thea, the asshole dog puncher and the Hunter)

I got this game on the day it came out and I have completed all 8 endings. this game was a joy to play and I'm glad that you checked it out. btw if you're wondering how to keep Bethany alive you need to choose a specific plant at the altar that Bethany gave you the location of.

I thought of an interesting challenge idea for Vampire Survivors. The goal would be to collect as much experience with a single attract orb item as you possibly can. It would have a bit of strategy to it, as you'd want to leave as much exp on the ground as you can while still collecting enough to kill things off. You've mentioned standing in place challenges were overdone, so I think this would be a unique twist along the same lines. The only downside I see is you'd have to find an attract orb on the ground at some point, which could take a few resets. But I think it would be worth it to see how many levels you can gain at once, and I'd definitely love to see what you could do with it!
