It might seem strange that I feel the need to preface this with - As a straight guy.... but the fact is, being gay still isn't mainstream in much of society. Having stated that, I used to feel weird about watching movies where guys kissed. This was many years ago. I'm proud to say that, for me, it's mainstream now. I'm happy to be able to watch videos like this and feel emotions, rather than have thoughts, (preconceived.) I love this guys' work. He is a genuine talent - an authentic guy. I would definitely buy a ticket to see him live.

I never comment on videos. but this video lead me to Perfume Genius and Mike's amazing body of work. I think that people get put off by labels because it seems less personal when something is pigeonholed into a genre. That said, genres help define where to look for NEW music. I am indifferent to labels of any kind; I just let my ears decide what I like.

But I'd say this band (though new to me) seem passionate about what they do, and though taste is subjective, you'd have to be pretty stubborn not to admit the song is at least pleasant. It deserves to be defended when people who click on it assuming it's going to be some pop jingle automatically start flaming the band because it's not or that it doesn't rack up as many views as prefabricated, radio-butchered music . That's my point.
