This video is really unique because it's mostly hand movements. There's an urban legend or rumor about it being a statement against thier then record label Toukuma Japan. The room represents the confinement behind the label company keeping them locked in Japan. They have supernatural talents that they are not using constructively so they are acting all bored and destructive. They aren't doing their typically phenomenal footwork they are known for. Shortly after this video they switched labels to Universal Japan and went more international. I don't know how much of that is true but it is interesting. In interviews they do say that with all the hand movements this "dance" is the hardest to remember and after doing it dozens of times you will often see mistakes in the live performances.

That director is Wes Anderson. Would love him to direct a Perfume video, either live, or in stop motion. : ) Michel Gondry would also be fun. 'Spending All My Time' is one of my favorites. Both the catchy song, and the choreography.

Yes, this is definitely one of my favorite songs to sing along to. It is up there with, "Chocolate Disco", "Computer City" and "My Color". It's kinda funny. I only know a few words and phrases in Japanese, but I know a lot of the words to my favorite bands... Maybe you could check out one of those three songs I mentioned. 'My Color' Live is a beautiful song. The girls get everyone involved and they get emotional by the end. It's really sweet. The connection they have with their fans is what I love about Perfume.

I haven't seen this mentioned in the comments yet, but I remember when Perfume was doing promotions for this single, A-Chan said in one of their interviews that they cried when they first saw the lyrics. They were mortified that it was all the same lyrics across the chorus and verses, and it was all in English at first. No Japanese lyrics at all. Perfume says they insisted that Nakata add in some Japanese lyrics, and that's why we have what we have now. They said the addition of Japanese lyrics and mostly the final music video really changed their view of the song to a more positive one. That being said this music video is a conspiracy theorist's wet dream. Their hand symbols on the table add up to 666 and then they do the "rock on" lucifer horn symbol immediately after, over and over.

The "rock on" hand sign is actually a symbol that means peace. The guitarist who first used it (cant remember his name and im too lazy to google) got it from his grandma who taught him it. And well the rest is history. It became very popular and influental and the meaning behind it obviously shifted a bit

This was the first song with which they started to internationalize their musical career, was really impressive and a great musical change from that moment. I enjoy this song, but only having a couple of lines did get old (for me) after a while. When it comes on, I don't skip it, but I try not to think too much about it lyrically. It's just part of the catalog for me. The video is super fun, though. #nocchi

When I die, I want to be buried with a boom box in my casket connected to a solar panel above ground with this song playing on repeat for as long as the sun is shining. This song is so catchy, that after the sun burns out and the universe dissolves into a dark oblivion, a faint echo of this song will be imprinted for eternity in the cosmic microwave background radiation and that will be the only evidence left of the existence of the human civilization.
