I love your honesty and thoughtfulness Aaron. I agree. With such a high price the consumer should be given more. Unfortunately with designer names that are so well known (like Tom Ford), the price is justified by the brand whether the quality is there or not. And to be honest, many of us wouldn't know the difference in materials being used if it weren't for such a skilled artist and craftsmen like yourself speaking on it. So thank you Aaron.

The price. We are looking at these expensive fragrances from working class/middle class perspectives, and it’s expensive. But Tom Ford and a lot of the other houses are luxury brands that were originally marketed to rich people, and to them, 300 quid isn’t a lot, they’ll spend that on a t-shirt that they’ll wear a few times. I’m not defending these prices btw, it just is what it is.

This is the most criminal scam in the history of perfumery. The original eau de parfum formulation that was being sold was this exact version now being sold as Parfum! We were already getting this quality for half the price, but they reformulated it and thinned it down to the point it now smells faint with a shocking cheap alcoholic opening and weak performance, so if you want the same original Oud Wood you were buying before you gotta pay TWICE the price... I love Oud Wood but I stopped buying it after reformulation and I refuse to pay extra to get the real quality juice. Just get Thameen Carved Oud, or even Spirit of Kings Zaurac, cause this is a scam!
@38mickbell6 ай бұрын
Think you’re being very gracious here, Aaron. The price point is ridiculous and frankly they’re taking the p*ss, it’s the same frag that was originally sold 10 years ago. I just bought a brand new, 100ml bottle of carved Oud (which is an extrait) for £120, which again highlights just how ridiculous this price point is.
@lukawalli6 ай бұрын
They can't verify because there is no real oud in there...simple as that. If there was, they would probably communicate it. It's just Estee Lauder trying to milk the Tom Ford cow. I love love LOVE Oud Wood and I'm ok with spending 200€+ on good perfumery, but for this money I stick with the EDP, I'm just glad I got a batch that performs pretty good on my skin.

I agree with you Aaron. If other fine raw materials such as silver, gold & diamonds are certified, then Oud, Ambergris, or other rare materials should be too. Unfortunately, The Estée Lauder Companies are even bigger than Tom Ford, which they bought last year, so I’m sure the merri-go-round of reformulations to amp up the profit, & dilute the fragrance, will begin soon. Then, niche perfumers are left to struggle against these monopoly - like businesses.
