I'm a very seasonal perfume wearer, so most of my collection gets put away for three quarters of the year and pulled out for only the season when I want to wear it! Out of 40+, I've got only about a dozen that stay out all year.

Love this tip! I actually never thought about doing this but it totally makes sense. I stashed away my spring-like scents, as well as my winter heavy-hitters and only keep the autumnal ones outside. Will it trick our brains into thinking the stashed away scents are ✨NEW✨as soon as we unpack them again tho? 😅 For me, it’s out of sight - out of mind 👀

I couldn't stand Olympea until I tried it again when my Chicago weather turned cold and now I just love it. I'm back into using Alien Fusion again again now too and am enjoying it for the first time. It's odd how some fragrances seem to hit us just right sometimes and are disliked during other seasons.

I do this frequently! I have gotten rid of too many perfumes that I wish I still had, or have used a favorite too frequently ultimately tiring of it. So now I just store those perfumes to return to them someday, rediscovering an old favorite or to simply admire the beauty of a once beloved scent. ❤️

This idea I understand, some of my perfumes I like some days and then dislike for months. That doesn’t mean I want to get rid of them because then I like them again. Also, I’ve spent so much money on them that I don’t want to throw them out. But there are a few that I have thrown out because I just could not get along with them at all. I picked up M after happening across it in store after a video where you mentioned it. My juice is clear though and it is soooo strong it makes me a bit nauseous. I need to spray it at my ankles or something to try it more.

Let me know how you get on with it :) funnily enough when I first purchased mine the juice was also clear, and it has darkened over time. I think from what I’ve heard, this can happen with sweet / vanilla perfumes?

@@SallyMarion oh! That’s good to know. I heard it happened a lot with vanillas (I’ve got a back up of vanilla 28 on it’s way to sit and get darker while I use my first bottle, ha!). Maybe with “M” it’ll sweeten up for me a bit.

Have you tried Maroussia by Slava Zaitesev?? Talk about a somber fragrance....Maroussia is the epitome of somber, but it's beautiful. It's extremely cheap (about $15 USD) and I like to just take the cap off and smell from the bottle but haven't dared to wear it yet. You should get it just to experience it. Weird description, but it makes me feel like I'm in a beautiful, old, fancy parlor and all the decor is very dark and dim.

I experienced the same with Sofia and Pink sugar. I started disliking them but after taking a break from them, I can now say I'm enjoying them. Great move Sally.

my Dior hypnotic poison edp my favourite even if I tried not to use it too much I keep getting drawn back to it I love this so much. Worried I won’t be able to use it much during the warmer weather I have decluttered a lot of my perfumes and instead stocked up on hypnotic poison edt and edp 😁 bless ya it’s ok to take breaks I’ve taken decades of breaks from perfumes and come back to them only to love them more 👌❤️👍

It’s a great idea just to take a break rather than selling the fragrances right away. I’ve sold so many fragrances to find out that I actually miss them once they’re gone. Lovely video ❤️

I have a box in my basement of Perfumes that I haven't been reaching for! I'm glad I do this now because sometimes I miss one or two and I'm able to re visit them. One of them is also alien fusion... I sneeze every time I wear it, it seems it got too peppery all of a sudden! Another is chloe love story, prada candy night, and cloud

The struggle with Hypnotic Poison edp is real 😖 There are days I think its amazing and others when I think its too suffocating for me . Its the same with Angel Muse edp.

Hi Sal, Maybe if you try thinking of the Hypnotic Poison as "sultry"? Maybe that would help you warm up to it again? Actually, the Mukahlat, or however you spell it, sounds quite nice to me. I have not tried a Montale fragrance before because it seems they are almost always anywhere from beastly to nuclear, and I just don't like feeling like a fragrance is in my face quite so much. I like getting a nice waft from time to time throughout the day. Know what I mean? Visited Mom again yesterday and helped my sister with a bunch of things too. Mom has really continued to get weaker and just declined a lot in these last three weeks or so. It's so hard to see. We pray that when it is her time, that she could just pass on quietly in her sleep. She knows what's happening, and that is so difficult to see her going through that. She's so sad, but she still has a glimmer of fight in her. An amazing lady, and I love her so much. I hope all is well with you Sal! xo Lisa

I’m doing good thanks Lisa :) yes, I think I’ll take a break from it first and then look at it with fresh eyes as a sultry intoxicating scent. Hopefully I can grow to enjoy it more again! Let me know if you try Mukhallat, I think you can order samples from Notino. But yes, it is a beastly scent so be wary of that. I’m so sorry to hear that things aren’t improving for your mum, my thoughts are with you and your family ❤️

WoW Alien Fusion! That took me by surprise. I am taking a breal from JPG Scandal by Night and Mon Intense. I love them but the weather in Puerto Rico and the way I apply my perfumes are a little too much for these two beauties. Still I am wearing an arabic fragrance from Swiss Arabia, Oud⁰ Inara🤣.

I feel the same about Hypnotic Poison EDP. Do you also find that it is sort of similar to The Only one by d&G - without the violet note? Or is it just my nose?

Hi Heidi :) interesting observation! It’s not something I have noticed this far, but I might smell them both again to see. The liquorice note stands out a lot to me in HP edp as well as a slight bitterness, whereas D&G the only one was more sweet, powdery, caramel & fruity to me.

I too go through phases where I just need to step away from a fragrance and revisit it again later. Often times I do find that that’s all it really is, kinda like absence makes the heart grow fonder, lol.😄 if I find I’m still struggling with one or more, I’ll try and layer them in a way that makes them better to my nose and just overall giving them a fighting chance before I part ways with them. Who knew we could develop such complicated relationships with fragrances 🤣 Like, I’m so sorry, but it’s not you it’s me, kinda thing. My dear fragrance, you would be well suited for someone else.
