Dec 2017 problem while doing the [4+2] cycloaddition shouldn't the 1,3 product be more stable than 1,2 product! and then why is the attack of that oxy substituent above the plane?

Very good content sir. Thank you. Sir at 35 mins, why does the OH (in acidic medium) attack the carbonyl carbon instead of getting protonated and becoming -OH2+?
@AllBoutChemistry
@AllBoutChemistry 6 жыл бұрын
Choinu Lhouvum, the driving force for OH group to attack at carbonyl group is formation of a stable 5 membered ring. Although if it gets protonated and leaves then you will get a Carbocation and then cyclization is not possible.

Hello Sir.... @37:36 min how you change d stereochemistry (trans)..... Didn't get that... except that lecture is superb as always.... Tons of thanx... Kindly clear my concept
@AllBoutChemistry
@AllBoutChemistry 6 жыл бұрын
Bcoz in the structutre just above the last one with stereochemistry, you can see that CH2-OH and Ph groups are in opposite planes, one is above the plane and second one is below the plane... so they will be trans

Sir at 2:34 sec u said that sign of coefficient of HOMO And, lUMO are same, I could not understand which sign plz tell me
@AllBoutChemistry
@AllBoutChemistry 6 жыл бұрын
Sign means that if you see the orbitals diagram I've shaded one of the lobe that will be +ve and other unshaded will be -ve So for rexn the sign of lobes should be same, that means is +ve lobe is above and -ve lobe below then for other one also it should be same.
