I honestly think Yellow Diamond DID remember Peridot when Blue and Yellow went on the offensive but Yellow refused to give Peridot the satisfaction of being remembered. With their last interaction of Peri insulting Yellow, it’d be like a janitor insulting a CEO: the insult is gonna stay with them since it probably has NEVER happened before, but if they interacted again, why would the CEO acknowledge it and give the janitor the satisfaction of taking up space in their mind as a memory?

Peridots arc is such a defining arc of the show. It’s one of the first things I think about when I think about the show because it was handled so well. They deep dived into her character more than any other non-main character. Something about her slowly realizing the flaws in home world society and the harm of it was some of the best stuff in the show.

I used to have a massive case of perfect child syndrome. Top of my (admittedly low fund) school and (mid-tier at best) class, spoiled by my grandparents who I spent a good chunk of my childhood with due to CPS and my abusive father, and overprotected by my mother. So, I know what it's like to think you're superior to others, even when realistically you are no better than the average student. My dad has major issues with projection and a 'I get what I want and if I don't I throw a fit' mentally. I used to have the same mindset, and despite his abuse, used to view him as this perfect person who was always right. As I grew up and got hit with a reality check that my dad never got, I learned that mindset wasn't good. My dad didn't take well to me growing up and he started projecting on me, so eventually I just cut him off for my own sanity. edit: basically, my dad was yellow diamond (without the redemption) and I was peridot as a teenager-turned-young adult. Peridot was so relatable to me both on a personal and emotional level

Something I find interesting about how Era 2 gems couldn't materialise weapons the same as Era 1 gems is, it's clear the Ruby Squad, or at least Eyeball, were Era 2, since, while OUR Ruby can form those gauntlets, Eyeball just pulled out a simple dagger. Whereas, Amethyst, an Era 1 gem, while being viewed as defective by Homeworld standards, could form much more detailed and unique weapons in her whips. Also, the fact Peridot's dress and shoes poofed with her implies she'd managed to alter her form in some way despite seemingly not having shape shifting abilities. It could be Bismuth found a way to make some that worked with her form, I suppose. Something similar clearly happened for Ruby and Sapphire for their wedding, after all

An interesting thing to note in retrospect is that Peridot never actually has a verbal issue with two different gems fusing, hell she even remarks when pearl and Amethyst do it, that she can deal with it since they are doing it for a productive purpose. Given both her rejection of attempting fusion (though understanding WHY they are fused) and her being Gem equivalent of an Ace individual, it's likely that this particular point of contention in her time working on the drill for once wasn't a propaganda thing, she WAS just genuinely uncomfortable with fusion, and to a degree still is (solely when directed at herself).

I always kinda wished that Peridot would get new limb enhancers, I know one of the lessons she represents is accepting yourself as is and the limbs don't exactly promote that. Then there's the fact she sees them as a source of shame, but at the same time they were an extension of herself. She had them for so long they were like her literal legs and arms not to mention her lifeline to her world, she had all the knowledge at her fingertips. Plus, we know she would have supped those suckers up!

Your breakdown of Peridot explains exactly why she is my favorite gem from the original series! There is a lot of complexity to her aside from just "terminally online gremlin insert". Granted I adore her gremliness but I love her most when she's able to show growth and a willingness to understand the world around her. A lot of us grow up hoping against hope that the system will benefit us like it has for the people we look up to, and we become disappointed with ourselves when we don't live up to what the system expects, overlooking our own worth and self identity in the process of feeding the machine. It was eye opening to see Peri finally stand up against Yellow because to me that said, "you don't have to be a cog, you can build your own machine and have it function separate of the greater system. And you can still thrive despite that!"

I feel like I can relate to Peridot because I'm really hyperfixated on transformers. Demon slayers many other fandoms. That really brings me joy and when most people however look at me like why you always act like that and if I had someone with me saying oh she's as high perfixated and they're like okay or basically just try prayed away which doesn't work. But most of The Times I basically enjoy those kinds of randoms. But when someone told me to stop and try to ask specifically to act like an adult. I didn't really fit that ideal. But sometimes, I just shut off my hybrid. Fix a line and just focus that the focus of being an adult can also carry consequential actions. And by that, I mean masking the symptoms. (Sorry if it got too really sad or uncomfortable, but that's as far as i can think of from the top of my head and what i could remember.)
