This Xmas I was just with my mum, who suffered a heavy reaction due to esophageal hernia and had to be driven home early and my terminally ill 13yo dog... worst Xmas I've ever had, so this special was a welcome relief. Merry Xmas.

I sure did oggle the video game pages in catalogues back in yon days. Not sure if it was Sears or what, but yeah, we'd get some catalogues. Coming from a working class home, I didn't get to own a lot of games for the few consoles and the Mac we had, but I sure cherished the ones I got. So much so that I have them in clear cases and on display now. The best part of Christmas was, of course, getting a load of games and toys.

The boy opening the PS2 controller first at 28:40 only to find out he also got a PS2 happened to me, but Atari VCS. Friends of my parents gave me a gift on my 12th birthday. I opened it to find they gave me Atari Space Invaders. I reluctantly had to tell them that I didn't have an Atari. The next gift my father gave me was the Atari VCS. That was a well planned surprise. Needlessly to say, it was my best birthday ever.

Another lovely Christmas-themed Retro Recipe Show. Such an eclectic mix of items. Unfortunately, I missed the showing of the War Games in colour, which is a bit annoying. I have ordered the Blu-ray, though. Reducing about 4 hours of story to 1.5 hours must have taken a lot of editing. Some great stuff in the unboxing and it's good to see Babyfractic growing well and being more vocal. Enjoy your Christmas together and your world trip. Find time to get rest while looking for new content for the shows. Ladyfractic, I'm glad you liked the poem. Thanks for opening the show with it. Magnificent episode. I love The Retro Show! It brings me back to a much better time. Regarding the Fusion case, just yesterday Theretrochannel had a review of the black and transparent cases and the Mechboard, all of which he bought on the Kickstarter. He noted identical tooling or mould marks near the F-keys on both cases, and the Mechboard apparently had the stabilizers installed upside-down. That doesn't seem like a big deal except that he believes that to correct the stabilizers, every keyswitch must first be desoldered from the PCB. I'm curious whether you notice such issues with your case and Mechboard, and whether that business about desoldered is true or not. I can't really picture how that can be but I'm no keyboard aficionado. Aside from that his Mechboard and two cases seem to be beautifully made and well worth the price. I don't know whether you can still buy them, but it's really inspiring to know that such options exist to restore Commodore machines or create entirely new ones. It would be nice to see these for other '80s microcomputers, but I understand the economics often don't permit it. Still, we can dream.

@@RetroRecipes He initially thought the transparent case had cracks in the material, then noted the black case had the very same "cracks". Upon close examination it became evident they were not in fact cracks but marks of some sort. Arguably he was unduly harsh in his remarks and we should just be grateful that options for brand-new breadbins exist, but he paid for his and had a certain expectation for visual appeal. Once seen, he opined, the marks cannot be unseen. On the third hand, he praised the overall quality, design, pricing and prompt shipment (as Kickstarter goes). He did not discuss present-day pricing or availability. I am not sure what to think and would be interested to hear other opinions on this and the stabilizer issue.
