Is it bad I always preferred the AY sound to the SID? It's just so... cozy.

I've just noticed one of the games is where time stood still if I remember rightly that was only ever released on the spectrum 128

Thank you Prefractic I was a C64 owner and my close friend had the Spectrum which we both shared as with the C64.

Great review mine is due to arrive from Amazon later today loved the manic miner joke as if you've never heard of it 😂 I got my first rubber key spectrum in 1983 and then moved on to a ZX spectrum 128 when that was released and was the last machine released before the amstrad buyout and the +2 +3 that amstrad released I have a CD rom that I bought over 20 years ago which has a PC emulator and thousands of games in z80 and TAP format which I have copied onto a USB stick ready but can't wait to play one of my favourite games robin off the wood hoping they have included the spectrum 128 version with it digital voice samples for when you die and get caught by The sheriff and much better music.

The 48K Speccy was my first computer at the tender age of 8, and is the reason why I chose to have a career in IT. A wonderful machine that allowed me to learn how to program and kept me and my school friends entertained for hours with its plethora of games. It’s hard to explain how much of an impact it had back in the day, as the most affordable home computer with colour graphics and sound.

In the early 80s I was one of the few spectrum guys in my school. Germany was C64 country and I was a spectrum fan. I subscribed to british spectrum magazines like crash and that was not that easy in pre internet times. I learned programming on that thing and loved it. Became a game developer later thanks to the spectrum.

Looks amazing so nice it has a working keyboard and you can program in Basic😮. I wonder if there is a way to get this beauty online to connect to bulletin boards?

Saw what you did @11:30 🙂 Film you unplugging the connectors and run it backwards in the edit as it is hard to get these fiddly connectors in without poking around with them when you cannot see what you do.

If I could have had this instead of an NES growing up, I would have liked the spectrum better. I would have spent all my time with BASIC

I used to plug a Sega Genesis controller into the C64 (B button was fire), and I was delighted to find out you could also plug it into an Amiga and used the Directional-Pad as the mouse. Rocked so hard. I was so good at computer games using the Genesis controller on those machines. It was LOAD "AWESOME",8,1

SkyFox II on a gamepad, guys. That's all I'm saying. California Games. EA's Ultimate Wizard. Outrun. TMNT. It made gaming that much better.

Okay, I'm waist-deep into this video at this point, and all I can think is that Sir Alan Sugar is now trying to figure out how to relaunch the Armi-- okay, okay, I won't go there. 😆

Our Speccy resided in my fathers hobby and rehearsal room (he worked as a classical double bass player and teacher). My main nostalgy is around the early 'Ultimate Play The Game' titles, and Jetpac in particular. Wheelie, Doomsday Castle, A Day In The Life and Maziacks also comes to mind. It was an amazing world that opened to me. My carreer in computer graphics could be said to have started with 'The Artist' on the Spectrum and continued on the C64 (Print Fox) and the Amiga (Deluxe Paint). All pre-Photoshop and Quark that came next. Will there ever be a time like that again I wonder... I think we were lucky to be that particular generation. Thanks for reigniting some great memories.

I'm excited for this, I had a couple of rubber key speccy's. Livestock run off is usually the culprit when vegetables get contaminated with E coli. Hope you all are recovering well.

This is so stupid. The truck and car going over the cliff was done with models, not the real thing. Do you really think Spielberg would put a huge truck and a Plymouth Valiant over a cliff and simply leave the wreckage there! I saw in fact a recreation of this scene done that way on You Tube recently and it looked totally convincing.

Get well soon mate. I've not ordered one, of these but I really REALLY want one. So why didn't I order one? Because nothing screams Nostalgia like adding something to your Christmas list and hoping someone else gets the hint. I didn't get a 48k back in the 80s. Let's see if Santa brings me one in 2024 (and if he doesn't, then I'll order one lol)

I guess these new machines supposed to be an excuse for actual playing of some games which needs stamina to break through towards the joy but at the same time they become a toy of their own unfortunately .playing retro games need certain planning as a ceremony or a ritual .
