Loved the video. And it is the first time I see anyone doing tapers on the band saw like that. Found you after listening to the Against The Grain Podcast when you were guest there. I have a question. When you are gluing a frame under a panel like that, how will that work with wood movement? In what instances can you do a crossgrain glueup like that? Cheers. And you have a new sub :D

So sorry that it took me so long to get back to, and thanks for the sub! Tapers on the bandsaw? Maybe you mean with the L-fence on the table saw? I love the L-fence for following templates. It also means less time on the router table. For the glued up top, I I have used this method before, when working with an expensive wood species. Each little piece that is glued on follows the same grain direction as he piece that it is glued on to. It not only make for consistent wood movement, but also hides the lamination, creating what looks like a solid, thicker, top.

Great looking stools and video. Which earmuffs are those? I'm looking for a pair that don't hurt when wearing glasses like you.

Ben, that is amazing. 3 questions...plans? Please? ;). What wood did you use for the legs? The lacewood is spectacular. Finally, did you use Waterlox or shellac for the finish? Wow. Thanks for posting!
@bigben3804 жыл бұрын
HI John, no plans, sorry. Not because I do not want to, I just don't have the time to produce them. The base is made of Walnnut and finished with the Waterlox. I apply 3 coats (one per day) allowing the final coat to dry completely (in this case it took 4-5 days). After the final coat is dry I applied a coat of Howard Orange Oil beeswax. Also note that I sand in between every coat of finish. Thanks for watching
