Thanks for reaching out. We'd recommend you to speak with your primary care team with specific questions like this and fill them in on your health history. Thank you!

I appreciate the issue , I have issues with a) a heel callus that is often 1/2 to nearly 3/4 thick No matter how long I soak it in Apple cider Vinager or other OTC items and Most recently Had some issues left big to middle toes turning Black and blue and even worse I am not Diabetic as of yet I have a history of Ascending Aortic Rupture and Popliteal Aneurysms in both legs the Right was Bypassed a year after the rupture... Walking is NOT quite as simple as Powering through DOing a week's grocery shopping I've built up Some Stamina often by the time all so said and done and the cold stuff is put away, Its downtonw on the couch time compounded issues for sure Add in Afib as well...

Could bicycling be as effective as walking? I do actually find this activity less painful.
@PCNAheartnurses2 жыл бұрын
While we always recommend discussing with your medical care team, biking is a great cardiovascular activity that along with healthy diet and regular exercise will improve your overall artery health, therefore benefitting peripheral artery disease.

@@PCNAheartnurses.I've had symptoms for quite a long time, but put it down to the aging process (I'm 76), never having heard of PAD until recently looking into the matter via KZbin - much valuable information there, not least your own ! I've now booked an appointment with our local GP, so hoping to get a definite diagnosis. Many thanks for your help & advice.

Tip: combine this with nordic walking (with two poles) to exercise the upper body too. Nordic walking is coming in fast because it is fun and motivating and allows for hikes in rough terrain in groups. There are some good KZbins for eg Parkinsons patients. I'd avoid the carbon fiber poles, they can snap at the worst time, high-end aluminum poles at around $40 are light and strong.

There is no cure for PAD, however, there are ways to manage and improve the symptoms. As the video states walking will have an overall positive impact on cardiovascular diseases for most patients. Other steps to take to decrease the symptoms of PAD include lowering cholesterol, quitting smoking, improving blood pressure, improving blood sugar levels and improving blood pressure. Here is a link to a helpful resource that explains PAD treatments on the second page: pcna.net/clinical-resources/patient-handouts/peripheral-artery-disease-tools-and-handouts/

@@PCNAheartnurses Not interested in disease management. Unless there's a way to reverse it, I'm not interested. Turns out I don't have it, but hope I never get it. Having this thing permanently is like living half a life. . Also I think your information might be old. There's not enough data, regarding the reversal of the condition, but several people have reportedly reduced the plaque in their blood vessels over the course of year(s) by diet, excercise and intake of statins.

@@kurtslavain you can still have a normal life with PAD if you do a good diet and do exercise you can reverse the plaque build up
