One of my favorites from the album. From an interview: "That song is a pretty emotional, very meaningful song to me," [Spencer] explains calmly. "It's about my older sister who passed away a couple years ago."..."...it's like, you can dwell on bad things that happen in your life, I can be sad about my sister being gone, but what she would want me to do is just to be happy and move on with my life. I know that's what she would want."

As a brother my outlook on this song really changed after hearing that, couldn't imagine my life without my sister and Spencer is a strong guy for having that mindset and being able to get through singing it live too. Beautiful song.

Man, this song is a lot for me. It’s not a direct comparison but it makes me feel very strong emotions for when I lost my dad a few years back. “She’d rather see a man up than me undone” is very similar to what my mom told me when he passed away, she told me I needed to be strong for him because she can’t have me lose myself because she’d lose herself. It’s, again, a fairly adjacent comparison especially knowing what this song is about. But, it’s one of those that no matter who you lost, if you’ve lost someone you loved so much, you get it and fully understand that pain of trying to move past it. You’re never over it, but you learn to live with that grief and remember how important they were and remain to be even though not physically there. It’s a beautiful song, the instrumental, the vocals, especially the lyrics, the real anguish in Spencer’s vocals; I just love everything about this song.
