Four years later and this may still be the crispiest, heaviest, most balanced picked metal bass tone I've ever heard. Nolly is such a top-tier producer, and a hell of a musician as well.

@@silkroad1201 I wouldn't say it's standard. It's a very particular plasticy brittle sound that's still got oomph. The rattle of the strings is something that I can never get sounding good. Probably because I have a bass with jazz in its name.

@@sueghdsifbvjvn Don't get me wrong, he's a great player, but the effects he uses would cover up a LOT, to the point where you can't tell how clean his technique is. Yes, uneven notes will have different timbre, but compression *does* mask it quite a bit, and that high gain distortion masks it even more. You could hit his strings just about any way and itll sound the same. His setup doesn't leave much room for any "tone from the fingers".

Hey man you should definitely check out bass, but just know that just supporting the guitar play is what he doing here, it’s just a flashy riff. Best picked Bass sound i have ever heard! I know Nolly has done a awesome drum sample library recently but he should definitely look into translating this bass sound beyond hardware (like sampling drums) -maybe looking into Bass focused DAW plugins next, as he obviously has the ear for this market. A very small market that is rapidly growing.
