I see nothing at all wrong with this film. I admire anyone who can decide at a young age what they really want to do and stick with it no matter how long or hard it gets. This film should be seen as an inspiration. As for the corruption in organized religion....We don't stop going to doctors and hospitals just because there are a few bad doctors or hospitals...we don't do away with law inforcement just because there are a few bad cops. Instead we focus on the good and try to make those institutions better. This was a wonderful post. Thank you.

I fail to find anything humorous about a person who decides to live a life of service and sacrifice. I'm not Catholic but can grasp the dedication it takes to become a full-time servant of God. Are there problems and corruption in the church, Catholic and Protestant? There sure are. However, much good comes from those who actually follow the tenants of Christ's teaching. It's when worldly desires and hypocrisy creep in that you find corruption.

There’s nothing wrong obviously with design design and donating your life to service and charity and good works. But this is a man made mythological blood cult. All religions are mind forged manacles, and there is no evidence that any gods exist. There are plenty of secular institutions that are dedicated to the service and charity towards others. If this is something that is important to you, then I encourage you to get involved in them, or donate to them. I myself donate to doctors without orders, which is entirely secular. I also don’t mind if anyone wants to believe in a man-made mythological blood cult religion. As long as they don’t try to force it upon me, the American government, local state or federal, our schools, and so on and so forth. It is fine if you want to believe in something without evidence, but it’s not fine when you try to force it onto others, which is what many Christians do. I also think it is borderline child abuse, to indoctrinate a child into believing in whatever religion you happen to believe in. All humans are born atheists And must be indoctrinated into believing a particular God. And all humans are atheists when it comes to most god. For example, you probably do not believe in the existence of Zeus or Thor, etc.. Therefore you are an atheist when it comes to these gods. The man-made religion, that you believe in is most likely the same religionthat your family indoctrinated you into at a young age and statistically, you are the same religion. That is the most common in your state and country. That should tell you a lot about the validity of the assertion, although it does not tell you about its truth.

So Paul Picerni went from being one kind of G-Man to another kind of G-Man. “Hobson, get me a meeting with Frank Nitty, or God, whoever answers the phone first!”

According to a 2012 article in Noozhawk, a Santa Barbra county newspaper, "of the estimated 76 Santa Barbara children sexually assaulted by Roman Catholic clergy since 1958 [a year before the release of this film], 54 of them were abused by friars assigned to the St. Anthony’s Seminary and Old Mission Santa Barbara." and Old Mission Santa Barbara." The abuse was already on-going at the specific seminary that decided to commission a film with the sole purpose of convincing 13-year-old boys that they should join the seminary as soon as possible.

The seminary experience led to a lot of priests lacking the moral fiber or natural instincts to keep them away from sex with underage boys and girls. It also made a fine venue and closet for young gay men sponsored by a church that was profoundly homophobic, normalizing a sort of hypocrisy.

These days, the RC church prefers that it's priests undergo a liberal college education with all the temptations reasonably close at hand to weed out those who cannot remain celibate. Also, 13-year-olds are not known for making good life decisions.

You do realize the Catholic Church raped thousands and thousands of young boys, never punished the priests, covered up the crimes, and even shuffle around the priests so they could rape, more children, right? I mean, do you really not know any of this and do you not understand why this film is so ironic?

their minds are in the gutter. These people are why boys wind up being formed by women, because men are afraid to talk to them for fear of those kind of accusations.

Thanks. I was like "Where do I recognize her from?" and now I realize she was a regular on Dragnet. She played the librarian in the episode where some nerdy guy read French literature and shot a co-worker. She also played the single mother of a teen whose alibi for throwing a baby in the trash was that she couldn't be the mom because she's on birth control already.

Now he's just burning in hell. Moaning and weeping for a mercy that will never come. Beyond doubt. The mere fact that we are outraged by evil is proof enough that a standard of righteousness exists outside of and above us. God is that standard. He will not be mocked. It is appointed to a man once to die, and after that, the judgment.

I just can’t agree with recruiting 13 year olds and sending 14 year old boys to the seminary for 12 years My brother-in-law did that in the 1950’s he worked until he was 45 then applied for a Papal release from his vows He got out and was a college professor he met my sister they married had a daughter and that was 33 years ago!

You have to think of life expectancy too. Back then on average you lived to 69 years old according to the National Institute of Health (2019). Really, not a lot different than being sent to boarding schools or military schools. Now, with the life expectancy being at least 80 I would expect the age of discerning to increase to what we would consider an adult such as 18/19.

the same "issue" occurs more often in public schools than in Catholic churches... and far, far more often with family members. But the media plays it up when it happens in the church because they serve the prince of this world.
