Amazing footage of a significant part of history. Lawrence used the pen name T.E. Shaw when he translated the Odyssey.

Just finished reading, Lowell Thomas’ autobiography for the second time, “Good Evening Everybody: From Cripple Creek to Samarkand.” What an adventurous life this guy had! It’s worth tracking down this book--If you can find it. It’s an excellent read-especially if you enjoy the history of the twentieth century when communications and travel isn’t like it is today. I think many have forgotten that it was Lowell Thomas who really brought the story of T.E. Lawerence to a world-wide audience.

Lowell Thomas did lead an incredible life. His book about "Count Luckner" is one I have read many times over and over.

Here's the issue: Tens of thousands of films like this one were destroyed and many others are at risk. Our company preserves these precious bits of history one film at a time. How do we afford to do that? By selling them as stock footage to documentary filmmakers and broadcasters. If we did not have a counter, we could not afford to post films like this on online, and no films would be preserved. It's that simple. So we ask you to bear with the watermark and timecodes. So, in the past we tried many different systems including placing our timer at the bottom corner of our videos. What happened? Unscrupulous KZbin users downloaded our vids, blew them up so the timer was not visible, and re-posted them as their own content. We had to use content control to have the videos removed and shut down these channels. It's hard enough work preserving these films and posting them, without having to deal with these kind of issues.

@@PeriscopeFilm Yeah, I understand what you wrote. I agree. But I just being superficial about it. For example, I watched Dick Van Dyke on the Ed Sullivan show performing a song from "Bye Bye Birdie." The time stamp almost completely blocked all his dance steps. It was frustrating. Now that I know the purpose of the time code, I'll bite my tongue in future viewings and endure. Thanks for the reply!

This film shows the Indian Lancer Regiment which fought under the British in the First World War.Almost 200000 lost their lives fighting for them but not a word of giving Independence to India was said by them showing what kind of aggressors they were. One of the most ungrateful Empire ever to rule India.

@@Mercmad You wouldn't have said that if you had read your history. Do you forget the First War of independence in 1857 (which the English named "Indian Rebellion of 1857". The Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs and others sick of the British rallied around the last mughal Emperor in a desperate bit to kick the British out of India. Are you forgetting what the Mughals did for India? They made it the richest empire in the world up until the British came to loot, pillage, rape, murder, abuse, ransack etc the Indian Subcontinent. The Muguls left a beautiful legacy where as the British left India divided, broken, raped and on its knees. Any infrastructure they did build was only in aiding its looting even further. No one can claim ignorance today in world of social media where all facts are now naked and in full view for the world to see. Views like your are becoming whispers drowned out by the roar of colonial legacy which can never hide its shame.
