Watching this makes it clear how the FAR’s we have in use now came to be. Odd/Even, East/West altitudes & vertical separation rules, Control Centers, - the roots are right here in this film. I have always been fascinated by the airway system. This was an extremely costly program by the government at the time - lighted beacons, intermediate fields, radio ranges, but it was the GPS of its day and certainly kept many fliers alive. Thank you for preserving these films. Please continue to do so as they are an extremely important source of enabling us to know how we got to where we are. This one would be interesting to see in a colorized version in my opinion, although I’m sure the time and expense would not be feasible.

I well remember a few of these. Fancher, in Spokane, I've worked on towers on that hill and remember "my youth." Mt Coeur d alene. My Gramps was a USFS carpenter and worked on the ground cabin at the "day lookout" on Mt CDA and there was a nav beacon there. You could see it as we drove N on 95 after sunset, going back home. I'm 73, born and grew up in N end of Idaho

Thank you. It helps me with research on a Radio Range video I am making.
