[ENG sub] DIR EN GREY ● RED...[em]

Christianity seems to be a reoccurring theme in Kyo's poetry (and stage show). This time, the emphasis is on the imperfection of humans, murder, sin, salvation, liberation and redemption.

Notes:
01) "RED...[em]"
I believe this title has many layers. "RED" could represent "blood" (red walls, red lamp - everything seems to be covered in blood; even the photograph looks like it's crying as blood probably dripped on it). "EM the name of M / m, the thirteenth letter of the modern Latin alphabet, in English and other languages." - and the number 13 is widely known to be a cursed/unlucky number in Christianity. The "..." in the middle of it could hint at a missing letter: "Red(e)em". Or possibly "redemption"...? Of course these are nothing more than shots in the dark, but these are what comes to mind when looking at the overall picture of this song.
2) 0:44 - 0:57 - I wasn't happy doing this, but I needed to abstract this line in order to make the subtitles match what Kyo sings. Here is the alternative version for those who are interested: "The reason why the local movie has me laughing quietly to myself as I am on the velvet sofa, dreaming of ashes with lowered eyes, is you, who showed up on screen."
3) 1:27 - "Vivienne-scented" I did some research on this matter, and while there are 11 perfumes created by Vivienne Westwood so far, there were only two available by the time this song was released (2003). The first one was "Boudoir" and launched in 1998. The second one, launched in 2000, was "Libertine" - or in English: "the one who was set free".
"A Libertine is one devoid of most moral principles, a sense of responsibility, or sexual restraints, which are seen as unnecessary or undesirable, especially one who ignores or even spurns accepted morals and forms of behaviour sanctified by the larger society." - Wikipedia.
Kyo is giving us the impression that this perfume he speaks of has the scent of "scattered petals"... And this is why I think he might be referring to BOTH of these perfumes. Vivienne Westwood's "Libertine" is often described to have a rather fruity, citrusy and tropical fragrance, but it's overall theme matches the theme of the song. And "Boudoir", being very floral, aromatic and spicy even, is probably the scent which lingers in the room. Users online have stated that the most dominant component in this perfume is the carnation, which, interestingly enough links back to Christianity again.
That being said... I have never smelled these perfumes with my own two nostrils, but if you have, please share your experiences with us! ♡
