I believe Perkins was it's own company until around 1998, when they became a joint venture with CAT, from what I've read, it was to improve Perkins' presence in on-highway vehicles, and update their technology.

I used to work for OKA motor company. They manufacture 4WD trucks in Western Australia, and their standard engine is the Perkins Phaser 4 cylinder. Some of these engines had literally done a million miles before being reconditioned, and the only thing that ever went wrong with them was clogged injectors, and oil leaks

I am 35, as of 5/5, and I showed this to my 14-year old of nephew at a family gathering. My words to him, "Watch this with me, it will make you feel all the more like a man." He loved it. He told me of a similar video (no music) that shows "a gun being put together one screw at a time." I found that video, but this is EPIC.

estos motores perkins tienen la fama de ser los mas duarderos y resistentes yo tengo un jd 2755 turbo y tiene 20 años trabajando aprox 21 200 horas y el unico gasto que hemos tenido en el motor ha sido el aceite que se lo cambiamos cada 100 horas y aun conserva 97 hp de los 100hp originales que tenia de salido de agencia por lo que por experiencia personal puedo decir que es exelente duradero economico y poderoso motor

As far as I'm aware, a two stroke, no matter what you did to it, would never pass Euro IV emissions standards. Far as I'm aware, the last manufacturer to make them was GM, and they stopped production in the 1970s. Heaps of power, but they have issues with emissions, fuel consumption, reliability and noise.

Absolutely beautiful video! This is the only thing I've seen in some time that actually makes me want to be a mechanic again. But, sad to say, I think the days of the internal combustion engine is numbered. It will be a sad day indeed. I guess though, you could always make your own bio-fuel. I fear a day will come that the government will levy heavy taxes on anyone who continues to operate fossil fuel vehicles. Or any combustion type engine in order to get people to convert to electric.
