I would recommend getting the two timing pins that go in the cam gear and between the crank pulley. No “timing marks”on this engine.

This is pretty cool to see. I have a couple 1983 Ford rangers with the Perkins diesel in them. This looks like a very more modernized version of the motor in those

Hey Jerry, That lift pump is available at Caterpillar (p/n: 270-6992) and is more than likely the cause of the injection pump going out. It'd be a good idea to change it out. I also find that my customers (yes, I work for Cat) forget that there is a filter (p/n: 1R-1804) in that pump that needs to be changed out every 250 hours. I've found its a 4-6 hours job. Good video. Man that's a lot of work the older Perkins were much easier remove fuel and injector lines the little cover 5 bolts I think in the front 3bolts on the timing gear 3bolts on the pump outside and its off as long as you didn't try to turn the engine no worries on the front of the pump drive shaft is a slot that lines up with a dowel pin on the gear turn the pump until they lines up and replace everything no problem it will start

Thanks for sharing. What year model is this? May soon be working on a 1999 Hyster 80 Perkins fuel pump, & 2000 Hyster 100 Perkins starter. Do you have any video/s or link/s handy for those? Thanks again. Take care from TN.
