One thing I learned from the old guy at EC and have incorperated into my belts is to always have your tape and marking items on opposite sides. That way you can pull out both at one, each in the ready hand and ready to mark! Every since that video I swear it has sped up my productivity to the point the Italians I work with have picked up on it and are currently doing it now without even asking me. The fluidity of it alone is not thought about but easily spotted and once someone sees how fast you measure and mark and are onto the next layout or cut.... they are envious lol

Many different designs for each type of project are also included. Ok so Jono and Jaime are rigged for doing framing, trim, and general carpentry. They were doing trim the previous day on one job and framing a deck the next. We do almost everything OURSELVES on our jobs from pouring footers, to tiling showers , to building custom cabinets. Basically our usual toolbelt set up is a combination of a framer and trim belt set up so that we can tackle ANY task. Hope this is helpful and fun for you guys!!

That's the way to be man. I built my own house, dig the hole, poored the foundation, framed, sheeted, all metal siding, u know the rest. I did hire a guy to hang sheetrock because I couldn't handle 12' rock by myself.

I really like Jono setup I had my bags set up about like Jaimes then after falling and breaking my back because of my tape measure being right at the center of my lower spine I had to almost completely stop wearing bags just became the cut man 99% of the time. Another great video men.

Best tool belt tip I've ever heard is to keep all of your small driver/drill bits in a Altoids tin to keep them organized. I use it every day

Or Buy a cheap yoga foam block on Amazon and cut it with a heated sharp knife to be in the shape of one of your small pouches. Then pre drill 3/16 holes neatly wherever you want your bits. Always organized and they never fall out.

Too tired at end of day carrying all that. 30' fat Max tape, hammer,, speed square, pencil, sharpie, utility knife, scribe, multi bit screw driver. AND a nice conveniently located table for about 30 things I like close by but don't carry. 61 y o. Great videos guys, the right crew makes it fun.

Nice practical setups in my honest opinion. Great video. I'm starting to dig those small units on your strong side where a bag would normally go. You carry what you need there. With a traditional tool pouch you tend to overload it because you have the extra room. Stuff you won't use all week. And we all know that ounces equal pounds.

Pretty much everything I carried... I had square stops too... I usually only wore suspenders in the winter, my coveralls didn't hold up the belt if I raised my arms... Sometimes a canteen, if I was going to be in the rafters all day.

nice video , I don't keep the pouch too heavy , all you need is a torpedo level , a measure tape and a square and knife and pencil , everything like pliers and hammers and wrenches else goes in the tool box . The tool belt is meant more for holding nails and screws than for holding tools , its more of a nail and screw holder , its not meant to hold a lot of tools

If you roll on a rubber handle, that will help with grip. I was able to find an old bicycle inner tube and roll on. I know it’s only a 14 and 16 oz hammer, it’s amazing the difference it makes. I also have carpel tunnel and other nerve damage, my grip isn’t what it used to be.

@@donmartin7728 tape has been on for over a year. I haven't exposed it to heavy rain amd no snow. Mostly clear weather only. When I bought the tape it was advertised on the package for hammers, bats and tennis rackets. I really like how it works. Check sporting goods stores for friction tape for bats, hockey and sports tape.

I keep a stud 4 sure magnetic stud finder in my pocket with my small drill bits and driver tips takes up very little room and brings every bit out in one go otherwise that elusive torx bit that you need is the last one you poke out!

I nailed it: at pawn shop found one of those old Klein lineman’s harness Took a grinder to the 2 big rings up front....coolest belt ever One problem = I’m getting wider and down to one of the last holes! 🙄 But Finally a belt that you can not kill ! “Plus the metal Klein tag on the back is a great fashion statement 😎

Swing a Estwing 22oz, 35' Milwaukee tape, 10 Estwing catpaw, klien dikes, Milwaukee torpedo level Milwaukee chalk line which I must say is the best chalk line I've ever used, and of course my little DeWalt bit box with all my bits and a Milwaukee speed square it has scribes up to 6" love it, also 1.25 ace hardware chissel.. then on top of that a handful of 8 inch pole barns. That's a real nail.

That may be a bit commando. Just because they now have super huge gigantic tool bages you don't have to carry every thing all the time. And a tool box is the best place to keep some of those tools. I even heard about a new thing, a tool box that has wheels and a handle. You can put more things in or on it than anyone could possably carry and take it right to where you are working.

Was wondering what type of setup compressor, generator, couplings do you run on your projects? It looks like you do mostly custom homes, so I'm guessing your running a generator all day, would you recommend using battery operated framing Nailers, or use the compressor type of nailers?

Depends on how many batteries you have, if you have a big crew I would heavily suggest air nail guns, that frees up your batteries for other tools, sawzalls and drills ect. However if it's just you and maybe one other guy the battery operated nail guns may be your best option,

Nice video! You can tell a "seasoned builder" by the the bare minimum, but nothing like yours setup. So the same instance with my crew. Sporting an old 14oz stiletto Ti with hickory handle. And one odd ball with a 14oz Ti with PF handle. Every handle looks different. I sport a TiBone 15 oz most of the time. Sometimes I run an old 16oz Ti. But I want to get a new Martinez. Speed square, nail set/punch, sharp chisel, some pencils, inkzalls/sharpie, chalk box, knife, tape, random bits (usually t20,t25,#2 square) claw/nail paw and or flat bar, and random mix of 16 commons, 10d's, ticos, and screws in no particular order or number, for any particular guy. That's Funny For sure! Thanks for the content! That's going to be a beauty! I love a nice "mountain style" build. A lot more involved than setting a standard truss, but the cathedral and window wall makes a home. Especially with that kind of view. IMHO. 👍

@@psidvicious I'm using a 15oz actually. The Ti Bone. But yup my framers pretty well all have a titanium 14 oz stiletto. They smack harder than a 21 without the weight or vibration. I used to bang nails with an old estwing. Nope. Never going back to those days. Give one a try some day. Takes some getting used to, but more than worth it

@ David Briot - I’m not buying it. I don’t care if the hammer head is made of diamond. There’s a pretty simple physics principle at work here and it has to do with mass and acceleration (the old, irresistible force meets immovable object). I have no doubt these ‘new’ titanium hammers feel great in the hand and are ergonomically designed and all that, but you can’t change physics. These are the over-priced flavor of the ‘month’. If this hammer just feels that great, and you just have to have it, fine, that’s the hammer for you. But I think you’ll see them fall by the wayside at some point. Standard issue for me is a 28oz, straight claw, smooth face, hickory handle, Vaughn, for framing. Or a similar Eastwing for concrete work. Never had any elbow/shoulder/hand problems for 30 years. Good luck w/that thing. 🤜🤛

@@psidvicious no problem. I was skeptical the first time I tried one out. They actually claim to drive like a hammer double the weight. I know better than that, no 15oz hammer is going to bang a nail like a 28-30 oz. (Or maybe some day they will?) So with my experience 21-22 oz seems pretty accurate. My most used quote like most men has been, "there is no replacement for displacement." And I still agree with that statement. While I agree with physics. I also agree with technology. The exact way I would have called someone crazy if they told me 10 years ago, that there would be a cordless, 12 inch, DB compound, sliding miter saw that runs just as fast, or faster than cordless. Or cordless impacts that will outperform the best of best in pneumatic impacts....... It is what it is though. And here we are. We run the flexvolt miter's and circ saws, and milwaukee cordless pretty much everywhere else. It's insanity I know. Still hard to believe even for me. Same goes....With companies like stilleto and Martinez, a TON of engineering and technology go into what looks like an every day average hammer. I have a ton of hammers from estwing, to Vaughn, to Stanley, and stiletto. Most certainly the carpenter will make or break the capabilities of any tool. But I think you'd be surprised to see just how many pro's use the exact hammers we do. Moreso with guys my age. It looks as if the Perkins Bro's do also. I've only been swinging a hammer for a bit more than half of the ammount of time as you profesionally. While I don't have shoulder problems either, I'd like to keep it that way. And it's nice to get the job done quickly without the unnecessary weight. Either one will get the jobs done, so that's what is most important. It's just preference I suppose. But the guys who run these hammers know what I mean. They may not be all that and a bag of chips. But in my opinion they are worth the investment. Btw, I haven't been using the stiletto's for long. Maybe 6 years of the 20 I've been in the trades. I just took that chance, after seeing so many framers using them. And it worked out for me. At the end of the day, No Harm. No Foul. We're all just some blue collar folk out here trying to feed the family and build the best homes around. To me it don't matter what tools you use. 👍👊

Even if I’m not talking to him, he should hear what I’m telling everyone. Everybody on the same page. Things are different these days. Even the lowliest laborer has a cell phone but I tell everyone the same thing. “Don’t let that phone cost you your job.” You can talk to your boyfriend later. Not a hard-ass by anyone’s measure. Based on the guys tool selection. I would say Jaime is a faster worker but not a perfectionist. Jaime has only what he needs for a given task (a good thing). Jono has way too many tools on him but is more precise with his work...haha. The guys complement each other perfectly. Cheers!!!

You didn't chalk it correctly. Either that or you got it wet at some point. There already is a felt washer/o-ring in the Tajima chalk box. You only fill the box about 1/4 of the way, hook it to something, spool it all the way out, wind it up, repeat until your line is throughly coated. Usually about 4 times for me. Then never fill your box more than half full. The extra space is to allow the line to push the excess chalk out of the way as it spools in and out and to remain inside the box If it is over filled and not correctly coated it will spew chalk like crazy until it is at the proper amount inside and the line is coated. Better to just take the time to do it right the first time. Your chalk will last more than twice as long and your lines will be noticeably more precise.
