When I was 23 I bought a tool belt that I mostly liked and added stuff so that it was the perfect belt for me. It was leather, so I bought some leather, and an awl and went to town: Tape and square and nail sets and cat's paw and flat bar on the left; Hammer, pencils, chisel, utility knife pliers and screwdriver on the right side. My first job was on a speed framing crew in Colorado. I could pull my tape and pencil at the same time, then drop my tape back in while pulling out my square with one motion to mark the line... IF it was a 2x6 or larger, otherwise just drop the guard-less Skil saw right onto the line to eyeball a square cut. Very fast, and pretty dang accurate. Also dangerous. But hey, I needed the work. Later I added a back pocket for a water bottle, and a wrench holster, and a battery drill hook on the right front. I had a wide padded belt with no suspenders and BAM! Ready to rock. Dang thing was stolen out of my truck 15 years later. Fkn-A. I've never been able to replicate that belt.

I've done many extension jambs. A reveal is the professional way to do them. If you can't hide it, make it a feature.

With all these boards needing measured and cut and stained and what seems like a lot of prep, is this actually saving time from dry walling? Or is the reason you didn’t want to do dry wall?

I got a little trick for you if you put tape down like a piece of blue tape down on your trim first add all the trim nails on the blue tape then putty each hole that you just made in the tape wipe it smooth pull the tape voila no sanding all the putty spots and all that crap anymore good luck❤

Pro tip, you should never install a door jamb slammed tight to the framing . Tight to framing isn’t leaving room for expansion, as soon as everything swells up that door won’t shut. Hinge and latch side should both be shimmed for expansion/contraction . Also wouldn’t have needed to plain down the jamb extensions if there was room for shims in the rough opening.

Alright I'll give you this, that hammer sleeve is brilliant, my number 1 compliant and really only complaint with the Kuny's belt I've had a couple of, is the hammer is constantly smacking the side of your knee.

The key to a cleaner foam job is to leave it till it hardens. Even if it's on wood or drywall. Comes right off after it's set. Except your hair. Don't ask me how I know.

Hey Jerry, thanks for the tool belt! So this is the youtubes you were telling everyone about. I didn't know it was about building stuff, sounded more like a OnlyFans. I just overheard you were hammering your brother's (office) with your two buddies the bearded man and Florida Man. Good luck

Looking good! Amateur opinion: finish the exposed underside of deck with the same material and color of the deck roof - yeah it’s more work and expense BUT wouldn’t it look finished and not appear to be a later addition? Annnnd we all know what they say about opinions (just like aholes, everybody has one)
