This video follows a construction crew working on a basement foundation project. They encounter various challenges, such as dealing with uneven ground, precisely fitting a steel door frame, and managing the complex steel reinforcement. The team showcases their problem-solving skills, using creative solutions like building a wooden frame to represent the door opening and carefully lifting and positioning the steel header. The video highlights the attention to detail and teamwork required in this type of construction work, as the crew navigates through unexpected obstacles to ensure the project is completed correctly.

You have no idea how many memories this brings back for me. I've used this system many a time, one of the most memorable was to form an underground tank under a garage. of course it was "ME" who got to strip it after the pour but that's ok. I've always loved the ease at which these panels would go together & just as importantly, strip! Though I am in Australia, they seem to be exactly the same as what we used some 20-30 years ago. I dearly miss construction & if there is one thing I can take from watching you guys, is probably the main reason was the guys I worked with over so many years is what made it so good!! If only age & better health were on my side, I'd be back there in a heartbeat, Thankyou for the memories, great comradery & commitment to good workmanship! 👍

Invent the wheel every single day. I am not complaining, it is super entertaining to watch you figure it all out. I hope it all holds guys.

The each 10" wide vault jamb will have about 4725 lbs of lateral/ shear force trying to push the form which is why the need for strong forms for concrete are neded to prevent distortation and more important a blow out. Both jambs will need to safely support almost 10,000 pounds of lateral force trying to crush the vault door form, make it strong. Ray Stormont PS The total lateral force trying to push your forms apart for the appx 180 linear feet of 8' high forms will be over 2 million lbs.

I once watched some guys in the Azores set up forms and pour concrete as the base for a new Radome for a new tower and radar system I was installing back when I was in the Air Force. They used very little rebar, but the base only had to support the weight of the Radome and the panels are just fiberglass.

@markstipulkoski1389
@markstipulkoski1389 3 ай бұрын
@@DiamondDustAndVerdigris I actually started to tell Ray to not let Erik convince him they couldn't do ICF due to termites. That's not true!. Erik's house has an ICF basement and he had trouble finding a pest control service to treat and warranty the treatment. They have a dedicated video about it and that is the reason they use concrete blocks for basements. I wonder if Erik ever found a company who covered him. I'm pretty sure this is the last formed concrete wall we will see them do and they will go back to blocks. It is not against code to use ICF in NC. Guildbrook Farm YT channel did it and there are several crews in NC that do ICF. There are termite shield membranes and other products to mitigate subterranean termites and if it is documented that they were used you might not have a problem finding a company to cover you. The measures are to seal the foam below grade, forcing them to build mud tunnels on the outside walls to reach wood. The tunnels let inspectors know the termites are present. I plan on building an ICF house to the roof in western NC in a few years. It would be a blast having the Perkins Brothers build it and good content for them.✌️
