RIGHT!!! All you need is tens of thousands of dollars of equipment, (table saw, planer, joiner, various sanders, hydraulic press-knife, etc), in short: a fully equipped wood-shop, to build a $29.95 Costco item. PS BTW, don't get me wrong...I totally respect this gentleman's skill and craftsmanship, and I LOVED woodshop in HS, even won a few awards. I still make shelves, all types, and I've made bookcases, videocassette shelves, a coffee-station, etc in my home. But I do it with FAR less tools and equipment. Do they look "professionally" made? No. Do they look decent? Yes. Are they serviceable? Absolutely. I guess it comes down to the money one has to invest in hobbies, or in the case of this gentleman, what looks like a professional shop. I'd LOVE to have the tools he has, but I just thought I'd mention the "point of diminishing returns" as a joke.

To separate "30" and "31" you might use set of 16 cards instead of 15 and number of colors might be 1, 2 or 4. Then you should replace "32" with anything you want e.g. your logo or leave it blank and central bar must be longer twice. To preserve box's length you should use 17 cards =)

You could also use 31 tiles and have two sets of numbers to 31. Then there would be no blanks or doubles. It'd be cool to pack a whole year's worth of tiles in there with correct number of days for each month. If you were crazy, you could pack 4 years worth of tiles in there to compensate for a leap year. You'd need thin tiles and a large box though.
@Abdulla_Izrailyevich_von_Stahl5 жыл бұрын
@@hugeshows Let's be perfectly insane: we should skip 3 leap years each 400 years. If year's number is divisible by 100 but not divisible by 400 then that year is not leap. So our swell 400-years-pack calendar will be as large as a fridge %Ъ)))))

I know, I was hoping it wouldn’t come across as a huge middle finger with that tile in there! I just really wanted evenly spaced/distributed colors in there and 15 tiles was the magic number to get me close to displaying 30ish numbers. A lot of the older calendars added a few tiles that say “turn slowly!” and “turn towards you!” to buffer/pad their tiles so they could show an individual 30 and 31 tile. I felt that was more of a cop out though.
@TheRealFOSFOR6 жыл бұрын
It would probably still be better than the 30/31 solution because now you don't know which day is present. ... But it is still amazing!!!!

Wow, just wow. I think that i’ve scarcely heard of a perpetual flip calender, definitely never seen one though. Creating one must have taken an immense amount of planning, skill, and expertise, even more inventing it in the first place, at first glance the numbers on either side of eachother look random. I don’t even have any hobbies, consider me jealous.

What are the grooves in the number tiles for? Did I miss something?

It's just a decorative fluting. When I was making the tiles, I didn't know what kind of window size/shape I'd have to see the numbers. In the end, having the circular windows makes these decorative grooves almost not visible. Live and learn!

Ignacio Ramos he is cutting the rabbet for the top/base of the number box. He mitres it right after. The top/base of the number box is thicker that the sides.
