What I found interesting with Perplexity is that it combines search and text generation. One way I used it was to ask it to be my "game master" for an adventure, giving it some starting setting, and explicitly telling it to make its own search requests and results to create an engaging world and story. That way, I'm not doing the search and not building the world, it does it seamlessly to use its own search results for my own entertainment. And progressing through the story by giving it how my character would react, it keeps searching for new elements to craft the story and the situations I'm facing. I guess there could be other interesting patterns too, beside the obvious "search this for me".

Thanks 1) Since Perplexity Pro has access to multiple models like Chatgpt 4-o, Claude Sonnet, how does the $20/month subsription which gives 600 pro search stack up to ChatGPT Plus $20/month (40-80 messages every 3 hours? for Chatgpt 4-o) compare? 2) Do you know if Perplexity will add in cloud integration link like ChatGPT to customize a thread / session with multiple input files? 3) Do you know of any limitations as to how many files / documents can be uploaded in a thread for analysis / research? 4) Which model is best for analysis /research on inputted data 3)?

I am an IT Consultant of nearly 40 years ... yeah, old fart. Anyhow, my role is reporting writing, consulting, advice, strategy etc. I am a generalist, and yet the expectations are always that I am an expert in everything. Well. Perplexity and AI, has effectively democratised the specialised nature of complex fields, including IT. Being a generalist is interesting, as AI cannot produce without being prompted, and this process requires an informed curious mind ... this is me. I am a lazy nerd. Example So, I am currently writing a strategy for a customer planning to implement "Process Intelligence". Have I done a process intelligence implementation previously? No. Am I aware of the general genre and opportunities? Yes. I have used perplexity to write some strategy papers. My approach. 1. Write a broad contextual prompt including uploading of relevant customer docs, usually that reflect high-level process, potentially a business case or other docs explaining the why are they doing this. 2. I ask perplexity for a summary. 3. I then add another prompt, the general ask. As part of this I include some ideas. e.g. Process Intelligence is not a million miles away from Business Intelligence which is well documented. 4. I also include a question around, providing an idea of what reports I should write. I review and potentially go through a few iterations of refinement. I then ask for a Table of Contents for each deliverable. 5. At this point I will usually seek feedback from the customer re scope. 6. My next step is to pick one of the docs, and attempt to add depth. Basically, asking for bulletpoints for each section. Again I review/ update. 7. I ask the AI for feedback. Flow, alignment to the original need etc 8. Then I keep undertaking iterations adding depth each time. I also ask for ideas of diagrams ***. 9. I use perplexity pro in this process ... have been for the last 6 months. I use Collections for each engagement. It allows me to run several engagements in parallel without forgetting the previous conversations. ***The killer app for me, is the ability to draw 'McKensey' type illustrations. AI is not there as yet. But when it is. WOW. Have also used the free version of you.com (similar to perplexity) and am trying notebookllm (this is very early days). Highly recommend perplexity.
