It's, "Like poison in a vial, she was known to be very vile" 1) it's a stupid analogy 2) he's rhyming "vial" with "vile", which aren't even lyrics worthy of a teenage garage band.

"Like poise on, inner vile, she was known to be vary vile...": a lyrical variation, with more than some justification, in answer to ModernPlaque. For sad, excruciating, maudlin, morose, tragic, it is hard to go past Berlin.

@MetalMachineManiac Haven't heard it in awhile, but I remember liking some of it, like "Men of Good Fortune." Do you get what I mean about the lyrics, though? I mean, "Like poison in a vial / she was known to be very vile...." That would be awful if it was just an IMPROV, but to commit that to record for all time....??? I don't think an album can be "one of the best", especially best of the '70s, with lyrics that god-awful.

I think Perry had that ugly hippie behind him in the frame (1:10) just to make himself look better... But look at poor Lou! Maybe the older and more worn out he gets, the more mellow he gets on interviews... Though Perry is somewhat more of a kindred spirit and not some annoying journalist so it brought the real Lou out...
