One of the all time great TV theme songs--perhaps the greatest. When I was three or four years old and this was a prime time TV program, it would come on after my bedtime. I remember being scared by this theme as I lay in bed in the dark in my room, with the door cracked open, while my parents watched TV in the living room. Looking back, this was an early indication of how powerfully music would come to affect me. It was years later when I realized what a great piece of music this was, both in conception and orchestration.

We didn't have tv when I was little, but I had a similar experience from bed hearing my folks listen to "Mr. District Attorney" on the radio. The theme song was so dramatic, to me, it made me wonder at the big wide world I wanted to discover when I was grown! ;)

Also, the theme to "The Medic" was iconic in its time, "Blue Star" by Victor Young. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hH-yhJh7ZqiLg5Y I was a toddler when "The Medic" was on TV and I was not only taken up about the show, about medical diseases/conditions, education, and treatment with a background story, but I was taken up with the theme song "Blue Star." Although I was born decades after its series finale aired, Perry Mason was a steady in daytime syndication. I feel like it was always on after the morning shows but before the onslaught of 1980's and 1990's talk shows. It's funny hearing people speak of being scared as children hearing this late night in their rooms. To me this is all about that random sick day or in-service day, at home, hearing my mom or auntie turn it on once the morning chores or errands were complete. Just found the whole series is streamable now on Prime Video. Looking forward to nostalgia as I fall asleep. Love to all in these different says.

The closing has a little more bass to it and has a slower tempo. I always loved the theme from Perry Mason. For some reason, it didn't scare like it did a lot of kids. I could never watch the originals when I was a kid because on the West Coast Perry Mason air too late in the evening and my mother would make us go to bed just when it was coming on.

What a powerful opening! Such music as the themes for "The Twilight Zone", "Route 66", & this one were so engaging back then..., still like the original versions!
