Beautiful movie, such a deep emotional delving of psychological illness that can exist and try to be hidden by family. The damage and danger in this, yet the movie is very moving and Pamela Franklin was such an exceptional young actress. Love her in all her movies, she had a depth in her character which was so hauntingly beautiful. Thank you for this wonderful movie. Great acting by all.❤❤❤❤

@hardwired8084 Thank you, such a nice compliment. Aren't these old black and white movies the best! Especially these old British ones. I really enjoyed this film very much. I am a film noir fanatic and the Brittish thriller. It kept my attention throughout the story. And I knew the actors and actresses so it was more attractive. But the description of the plot talks about another stars and doesnt mention Pamela Franklin as Katherine nor Stephen Boyd as the reporter Alex. "The story centers around the mysterious death of Dr. John Vance (played by Stephen Boyd), a prominent psychologist who apparently commits suicide. However, his daughter, Sarah Vance (played by Jacqueline Pygmalion)". So it is somehow confussing. Thank you for sharing this excellent movie!

Pamela Franklin is just amazing in this film. She played Flora in "The Innocents" and did a great performance in "The Lion" and went on to play one of the schoolgirls in "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" all very powerful and disturbing roles. It is a real shame that was never considered to play Lolita in Kubrick's film because she would have been able to take on the role and make it her own.

A rating is no indicator of a classic. "Plan 9 from Outer Space" is 3.9 rating. That movie is a classic. Regardless, I don't care about ratings. Never allowed others with their ratings to influence what I watch.

A non-related male has no business touching or kissing a young girl. I read the plot summary. The dead doctor was Leo Whitset NOT John Vance and his daughter was Catherine Whitset NOT Sarah Vance. I don't get it. Why have names of Vance that weren't even in the movie? Why would the DR have a file on his own daughter? He would know all the info in his head, and there was a chance it would be found and it was. A strange movie, and I don't think I really like it. No, I KNOW I didn't like it.
