@ingGS4 ай бұрын
Is it expensive over there too? In the U.S. it is insanely pricey. The same with pine nuts and other ingredients typical to the mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine.
@cececox63994 ай бұрын
@@ingGShonestly America makes these crappy versions and then sell them for infinitely MORE than the FAR superior version. Saffron isn't exactly cheap but it's not prohibitively expensive like America. You could easily afford to use it multiple times a week without breaking the bank. Ive been to a few middle eastern county's and HATED them and the food was AWFUL. So it's not something i like or want to use frequently because i just don't like it. Not because it's "expensive"" and only for special occasions. I know people wgo use use it almost daily but they buy much of their from the middle east when they visit. But again Brits 🇬🇧 and Europeans travel MUCH more frequently than yanks. We can easily get on a plane and reach DOZENS of different countries in just a few hours it's further for Americans. That lack of travel means that you never find out that your versions of foods are COMPLETELY wrong. If you knew what REAL FRESH med food was like you'd be rioting outside all the crappy knock offs. 😂 They want to sell the cheaper artificial approximation rather than producing the higher quality real products. America is a new country that never got enough time to figure out qnd perfect your own style of cooking and local flavours before the invention of mass produced trash food came around. Because it's such a large country and y'all didn't have an actual local cuisine it was easier to go shopping once a month and eat the processed and frozen foods. And because you didn't have an emotional attachment to your national food and didn't really have any traditions around it, you also didn't have many small long standing family businesses to support, like everywhere else has and tries to protect. When everywhere else has such high quality food with fresh ingredients it's EXTREMELY difficult to sell them on cheap crappy low quality processed microwaveable junk food. Not many other countries only do a food shop obce a month. Modt of us vuy food every few DAYS. Once a WEEK is SHOCKING. Because how do you have meat fruit and veg after a WEEK...?! We also cant stand the artificial versions when the real thing is cheaper and easier. Like wifh the saffron Americans are familiar with, that usually doesn't have ANY saffron. Just a blend of red things that kinda taste close to it. And because they rarely eat the real thing they don't even know how wrong it is. But we do. My country LOVE'S spices and herbs. We fought wars over spice's. 😂 And thanks to our placement and investment in global trade routes instead of slave routes we've always been able to easily obtain the originals. Plus we ALWAYS know someone who's about to travel to the med, the mid east or Asia and we just get them to bring whatever we want back. Before you travel it's LAW to ask ALL your friends and family if they want you to bring anything back for them. Usually you'll be bringing back 10.000 cigs, 2-5 KGS of tobacco, 20 bottles of perfume and DOZENS of bottles of different booze. It's mission CRITICAL to dress cute enough and you better wiggle that ass and flutter those eyelashes hard enough to convince the guy at custom's its all for you. 😂 I've never lost anything but my parents did coming vack once from a family holiday. They lost 10.000 cigs and he let her keep the other 20.000 and 5kgs of tobacco, the dozens of perfumes and bottles of booze. Because they were in the kid's luggage 😂
