i could never imagine Root being portrayed by any other actress. Amy Acker has made Root a one of a kind character.

Root is one of the most complex and fascinating characters I've ever seen!!! And thank goodness for Amy Acker's acting, which is flawless and mind blowing.
@amluv200010 жыл бұрын
i think amy acker's talent is what made it possible for a character like root to exist. she could have easily been a one dimensional evil villain much like greer is. much like tatiana maslany on orphan black, when you have an actor who can give you that range of emotion to play with, the character can practically write itself. root is easily the best character on tv right now.
@drpemium33310 жыл бұрын
So strongly agree - ready to sign under each word of your comment! Amy is just brilliant, her playing is preeminent. She absolutely unique as an actress and she's created an absolutely unique character (of course not downplaying the contribution of the authors). I fully agree, that Amy's interpretation of Root is the most multi-dimensional, mesmerizing, inviting, vibrant, touching, upcoming, feminine, exquisite, marvelous... as you just said - the best character on tv (maybe in cinema too, btw) right now.
@amluv200010 жыл бұрын
Mihail K didn't mean to underscore the writing because this scene is amazing. it's a perfect marriage. i love that root is this enigma not because she's particularly mysterious but because she has the ability to shift in and out of personas based on the fact that she becomes what others perceive her to be. they choose to see her a certain way and she plays that exact thing and so you're not quite really sure who she is. and amy's ability to play that is just an amazing and pleasurable thing to witness.

Acker effectively managed to have me going from hating to loving Root in one episode, that being the finale of season 2
@amluv200010 жыл бұрын
root is such an enigmatic and complex character and i think by that point they figured out what to do with her and i attribute a great deal of that to how amy plays her. i haven't been this excited about a character on tv in very long time,
@drpemium33310 жыл бұрын
amluv2000 Absolutely agree! Amy herself was playing Root so multidimensional, that it was probably impossible for the authors not to take advantage of this chance. :) She's gorgeous!

When she says "whether or not I'm gonna kill you" I still get the chills. And that says a lot, considering that out of the ~15000 views this video has 14500 views come from me.. Root rocks!

It worries me I smiled after she said whether or not I’m gonna kill you, but thankfully it’s not because I think she’s great but because I’m amazed by her acting. No 1 else could have played her. Except maybe Jodie Comer since Villanelle reminds me of Root.

From this scene onward, I always loved seeing these moments of "the Machine freaking the hell out" as it's the closest we ever really see the Machine talking aside from the God Mode episode, a tiny portion of Root episodes, or Season 5.

wow. what a scene. one of Root’s best. Amy Acker is a revelation. her performance brought an aspect of fun, quirky, slightly crazy, sociopathic, yet w/ heart and true depth to the character. her character development was so enjoyable, fascinating, and surprising/shocking. And each season she was literally a different version of Root. To watch that evolution from season to season was amazing. _Amy Acker made Root into one of the best tv characters of our generation. (at least in my humble opinion ☺️)_

Couldn't agree more. Each dialogue she had with Finch was in a whole new level. Amy Acker was the mvp along with Michael Emerson. Even at the end her voice was enough to make me cry.
@dreamer22603 жыл бұрын
Completely agree. She was just wonderful. A truly moving and special performance. And it will be preserved long into the future. A beautiful legacy to leave, because ultimately she was a character who learned to love, to value life, to atone for her mistakes, who sacrificed everything for others and something greater than herself, and Amy Acker played her with such great skill, flair, sensitivity and emotional depth.

It's funny how a machine began to encourage Root to show more humanity. Or empathy rather. She was devoted the machine. And in the process began to love again before she inevitably died saving Harold.

Personally i prefer the scene from the third episode of the season named lady killer "Can you hear how quiet it is out there? Must be almost time. Are you as excited about this as i am?". Even though she doesn't say something extremely weird (by her standards) her tone is just terrifying but in a good way.

Although, I do feel that the machine is good, it kind of did reprogram or brain wash root's brain here. She became more human after this.

I see it as the Machine helping Root regain her humanity after she became disillusioned by humanity when her childhood friend was killed and no one believed her. She took revenge on the man who killed her friend by hacking the bank accounts of a drug cartel and making it look like the man stole their money.

An introduction with a dose of reality: a bunch of facts that even if the doctor does not admit, he knows for sure. An apparent delusion: talking about a 13yo god. And a threat. That is recipe for disaster, and thus panic strikes.
