A few times when Finch visits Root in the cage, she's looking out of the window. There's actually a theory that the Machine is communicating with her by blinking streetlights or a traffic light, which would be hella awesome.

such an underrated SHOW! ps: AMEN about amy acker! Root is one of my all time favorite TV characters- and it’s all due to her! her performance is just simply mesmerizing. try to imagine someone else in the role. it’s impossible. she was born to play Root haha. no one else does “Perky Psycho” like her. (haha a description Shaw once used🙃)

@@gunnyking7890 I'd say more jealous than anything, and it's his own fault. He layed out a simple system of communication for him and the machine. It respected that and continued that with him. The machine just needed a 3rd tier other than the Relevant and irrelevant lists so it used Root as it's interface to do that. Hence why their connection is more intimate.
@TenkabitoShien4 жыл бұрын
@@gunnyking7890 i doubt it, everytime the machine showed comcern about harold he tried and did kill the machine and he did so many times thats the main reason that in season 5 the machine saw harold and reese as a threat because it remembered harold killing him over and over

LOVE this scene/episode. i’m waiting for someone to make a Root+Finch compilation. their journey together is just incredible. it began with her- a hacker + assassin- kidnapping him after murdering a woman, and ended up with her valuing human life & joining the team to help save the lives of the numbers. their first encounter was root kidnapping finch. and it’s just amazing watching the gradual change and growth of their relationship. eventually ending up as close friends, comrades, come to respect+truly love each other, lean on each other when needing advice or help, became partners in crime with computers, and had countless thoughtful discussions concerning the Machine,A. I., methods, hubris, and morality. haha guess i just made a written version of a root+finch compilation haha. damn i love this show 🙃

One of my favorite scenes is when Root turns from Mr Finch's antagonist to his protector. It happens in the park. A sniper kills the man that built a home for The Machine, Agents are closing in, Root raises her pistol, and fires, calmly saying, "You will NOT touch him."
@_birdie2 жыл бұрын
@@smc1942 looooove that too!!! And she even continues with it throughout the show. Like when she and finch are captured by Samaritan (yaknow, when it gave the machine the choice of giving Samaritan its location or releasing the 2 humans) and the girl assassin explains how she’ll be killing finch and “I bet he’ll die without so much as a peep + root says “lay a hand on him… and I’ll kill you. Omg the delivery of that line was perfection. And then yay she did! Martine then caressed his face and root immediately snapped her neck, ending it with “….what do ya know? Not a peep.” Sooo good. Omg that was so long haha… sorry! I could go on and on and on about this damn show and all the scenes I adore (and know by heart haha) but nice to find a fellow mega fan ☺️✌️

He should've set her free. Then Carter would still be alive. From a story standpoint. I know Taraji probably wanted out or the somebody else said "time to go" or whatever. But in the story, GOSH DARN IT HAROLD!
@KingOfTheInterWebs7 жыл бұрын
Taraji had already agreed that she would only be in the show up to season 3. I think she didn't want to be tied to one role for too long and that made it useful for the producers to give a sense of consequence by killing off a main character. But yeah, I agree. :P If only Harold had listened. Though of course he wasn't to know.

At this point, Root didn't really earn his trust nor ours. It's the fault of the machine that it doesn't explain to Harold or put bigger clues in front of him about Samaritan and more importantly Greer. Harold is so busy making up for all the irrelevant numbers he ignored that he has made the irrelevants his penance for for Nathan's death. He can't see the forest from the trees. Didn't even wonder who was funding Vigilance with such large security teams that they outnumbered his little team and he's a billionaire. Had he only followed the money to Decima.

***** She didn't though, did she? I can't remember Root ever actually writing anything into the Machine's code. That's why Root was so surprised to get the call in the season 2 finale. The Machine apparently contacted Root on her own.

The Machine sees Harold as her father. Root loves and trusts the Machine ultimately above her own survival instinct and will do anything for her. If she hurt Harold she thinks the Machine will disprove or disown her (which she would) and she'd lose her connection to the one thing she trusts implicitly above her own life the 'perfect' lifeform. Another reason is that Harold also suggests that the Machine wants Root there, so after pondering on that she concedes waiting for her God to call her back.

Why ? She made the show more entertaining. Carter, Fusco, John and Harold are all kind of similar. All of them are on the one hand nice and help people but on the other hand also badass people. Root and Shaw made the series more entertaining because they are really different. Root is a psychopath and Shaw is a killer without feelings. They both fit perfect to the show
@trekon20232 ай бұрын
@@mariogomez6083Root is the only one putting the pieces in places to protect them from Samaritan. Shaw has muted feelings, makes quick tactical decisions, while serving as needed backup for Reese who's been beaten up and shot so many times. So many eps of S1, Harold is driving a car to save Reese. He can't be in two places at once taking on multiple guys as big as he is with the same tactical training. They needed a bigger team long time ago.
