Never in a million years did I think I'd see a cover of this one! P3P and the FeMC route are somehow still underrated (despite the fandom frothing over her inclusion in Q2). It's true it's more or less just a re-release of P3 with a couple quality of life changes, some aesthetic stuff here or there; I could see people taking it like picking between boy or girl in Pokemon. It's shocking to me what they could do with little touches here and there for her route though. The sunnier, more optimistic feel of the music, the small dialogue changes and even some major plot stuff here or there, it has a very unique flavor from the original P3. Even the big difference in main themes between Burn my Dread and Soul Phrase, lyrically and musically, gives you an idea what to expect from each game. I personally think of them like companion games; if Persona 3 proper is about learning to accept and live with death, P3P is about living in spite of it; more of a celebration of the now than a bracing for the end. I can't lie, I always thought it was really cool how a small change in perspective on the same theme can make a world of difference. Put another killer cover of an underrated gem in the books Gill! which do you recommend playing first ? P3P or normal P3FES ?

@@PWLfr I think that depends on preference! P3FES has anime cutscenes to punctuate large moments, free-roaming in 3D Space for daytime sections, and weapon switching for the protag. It also has the epilogue/soft-sequel, "The Answer", though opinions on that vary a bit from person to person. On the other hand, P3P allows you to command party members in battle, of course has the new FeMC route and new plot elements that accompany it, more social links that aren't forced to be romantic, and a lot of other small additions and changes that'd take too long to mention here. Personally, I'd recommend P3P; it has almost everything you'd want, and quality of life upgrades make it much more pleasant for newcomers to enjoy; even though FeMC's route is my preferred P3 experience, either way P3P won't steer you wrong. "The Answer" may also be played right from the get-go in FES, so you can always beat P3P and go back to FES for the sequel if you'd like, without having to complete another full playthrough. I hope that helps!

What? Base P3 already *is* about living life in spite of the cards you've been dealt. Your assessment of P3's base and FeMC's route are right, but that wasn't added later. It only became less subtle because of the lighter tone in the FeMC route. The main cast were already in the mindset of accepting and live with death even before the game had set its plot in (it's that very mindset that made them capable of 'pulling the trigger'). It's *through* the plot they learn the message you think they only portrayed in the FeMC side. Hell, the Sun arcana is there literally to mirror the protagonist with another person in the same boat as him and learned from the protagonist to enjoy life in the moment. Something the P3 protagonist would learn as his 'answer to life's greatest question.'
