Answer dlc is also coming according to datamines of the game files, So it’s basically Persona 3 Reload FES. I don’t mind though since all of it is in the main timeline story and direct canonical spin-off being Arena indeed referenced them.

Yeah she even lost majority of her childhood memories because she's been forced to experience the dark hour ever since she was a child. So in a way, she's serves as the justice that Strega deserved for having their lives and identity taken away and altered by a bunch selfish scientists. Now she gets to live the life of a normal girl without the trauma of being a test subject all her life. Honestly her coming back to life is not too far from reality as such miracles have happened in real life although they are very rare. And the only reason why this event was triggered was because you encouraged Junpei to treat her life as if it was the most precious treasure in the world and that belief manifested. Without his dedication to her, this wouldn't have happened.

Let's not forget that Death in the Arcana also signifies a great change, and the Death of what once was through replacement of what is or what will be. Chidori as she knew herself, as junpei knew her, and as the rest of the cast knew her (all different sides) is Gone. Nothing but a memory. And it's up to her (and junpei) to be bogged down by that, or continue on the path of the arcana, and roll with it.

For the people complaining about the theme being death and Chidori living being a canon event, you all only understood HALF OF THE MESSAGE AND THEME! Its Memento mori. Memento vita. Which means, remember you will die and remember you will live. Ergo, the theme is LIFE AND DEATH. Not only death. exactly, people in persona 3 are wishing for death because they are losing hope, facing various personal difficulties, but the protagonist, with his willingness to listen and help is giving them another perspective, that everything can change, nothing is permanent, just like lives that will reaching it's end, so is difficulties, they will ended also, . death is the end of live, but difficulties ended when we accept and make peace with it, in other words face it and solved it, hence why i think, the protagonist shielding the door, preventing everyone for reaching out to death as salvation to their problem, and wishing them to live happily. .

Also the next person who said P3 Answer confirmed Chidori died; It's mistranslation. In JP version, Junpei said "aitsu"/"that person" when discussing about Makoto's sacrifice. EN somehow picked it up as Chidori despite the implication is clear that Junpei meant Makoto. This is why the game seems to conflict whether she's dead or not; Chidori has always been intended to be alive, and P4Arena bluntly gives you the hint with Junpei's new necklace (which he clearly never seen with before) and his proposal to Chidori in dream (which would conflict a lot with Answer'ss general theme of moving on from past if Chidori was really dead).

I like how P3R especially went out of it's way to explain Chidori's revival and people are still too dumb to understand what happened. Chidori can infuse other lifeforms with her power to restore them to life. She does this with Junpei, but it costs all of her life force. However, prior when Chidori doesn't want to see Junpei, you have the option of encouraging him to see her anyway and when you do he gives her flowers. She ignores him but very clearly keeps the flowers because you can literally see them in the vase beside her hospital bed. In P3R they even make you buy the flowers for Junpei. In an earlier scene she takes care of the flowers by her bedside by using her power. So since the flowers Junpei gave her a month ago are still clearly okay, it's very obvious she took care of the flowers with her power. The leftover life force in those flowers is why she was able to revive. It's also why she will die if Junpei doesn't give her flowers. Do y'all need Speedwagon narration to understand this? She lost her Persona because it merged with Junpei's and without her Persona she lost all her memories of the Dark Hour.

People are completely missing the point of why this is still a narratively positive moment. Yes, death is a main aspect of the story. But the major aspect is that the future is uncertain, and how you should seize every moment. Chidori being revived and being abundantly clear she wants to live so she can remember Junpei is not in conflict with the theme. If you don't get those flowers and push Junpei to seize the chance, she stays dead. Those flowers on that one day are the dealbreaker, and if Junpei remains hesitant she doesn't return. It's a great scene.

I've seen some negative takes on this death. However one way I like to look at it is she represents the concept of life after death, which persona 3 explores in a few social links. Like some characters (Gourmet King) believe in an after life, some (Aki) belive the dead watch over them like ghosts. This view being the view of resurrection after death. Which some religions teach off. It could also be symbolic of the flowers Junpei gives her. Flowers wilt and die only to blossom again after a period of time. Chidori is like that, and honestly I like it and the many different views on death and after life that comes in this game. It would be a little repetitive if every death was the same. Her last name Yoshino also means lucky wild life/ fields so there's some parallels there as well.

2:13 Having first played Persona 5 Royal, I can't help but compare this scene to the Maruki and Rumi flashback and notice that Junpei was almost about to make the same mistake Maruki did in thinking it would be better that she forget what happened. The whole point was Maruki needing to learn to overcome reality by facing it instead of running from it, with the main thing that he was running from being what happened to Rumi, yet the ending mentions nothing about Rumi, even though the loss of Mementos and Personae raises the question of if Rumi's cognition is still altered or if she now remembers what really happened. If it had Maruki mention that he was going to talk to Rumi and make things right, that would've been enough.

I didn’t find out this was an option till after I beat the game, and personally I prefer Chidori dying. But if you like her being alive that’s valid. I see a lot of people saying that her living is about Momento Vivre, but I personally think her dying actually strengths the theme of living. Memento Vivre means ‘remember to live’, and I think that applies to Junpei himself, he must learn to continue to live his life in spite of the tremendous grief of loving the one he loved, so he must not squander the life he gave her, and I think keeping her alive cheapens it, Atleast for me. Again if you believe otherwise that’s totally valid but I just wanted to share my perspective and how I think her death still fits with the theme of living and not just death

I think they're just a bunch of hypocrites too, since Junpei was the first to die and he was REVIVED! So why can't Chidori be given that chance too? I'm telling you right now, everybody, including those people who keep complaining about Chidori's revival, would've riot had he just stayed dead then and there. Listen... Miracles are rare but they DO happen, even in real life. Heck! Even the sacrifice that the P3MC gave at the end of the game WAS a miracle. Because before him, the world was literally doomed, no questions asked. Ryoji said it himself; In almost every scenario, there was no capacity for the world to have survived the Fall and yet it did. This event is also optional, so everybody just needs to take a chill pill.

They traded lives in the original. It's not the same. Comparing the miracle that the MC pulled off as a result of being the protagonist to a revival of an originally dead character is a false equivalent. The game can't just end with "everyone dies" as the true ending. There's still a story to be made, you know? Stop trying to justify your childish desire for happy endings.
