I actually like Both. The beautiful, serene notes of the reload version show his death as more beautiful than tragic, the light blue light gives it a more simple approach. And I think Aigis reaching out and gasping for him one last time is a nice touch. But of course, the edginess and realness of showing the harsh reality of his death is really neat too, it shows how ever part of him, skin, bone, and blood is gone now. There is no coming back. It’s more of a tragic last memory of him. Both are really cool IMO
@f.i.d.m63924 ай бұрын
I fucking love the edginess of the original, but I think a sad vibe is more fitting for death. A death doesn't tend to be creepy nor filled with gore, most of the time it just happens and it's always sad. They really played it safe though, specially with the Yukari scenes
@CarlosSilva-bh4bi4 ай бұрын
I mean, it wasnt of death We destroy the conexion with Makoto/Nyx and the Abyss which is everyones desire to see Makoto again So, with this, Makoto dissolves, innthe original, everyone accepts thats the best and dont cry about it even if in the final part, they get that vision of Makoto smiling thankfully to them Thats exactly what the narrative needs, as we dont see the horror or fear of death, is the fear of loss in death So we dont fear dying ourselves on it, we are terrified of loosing others, so terror fits in the answer like a glove, as we had sadness in the Journey

@b-fenix5789 Maybe I didn't make myself clear. True, they accept his death and move on after they fight each other, hence why they fight Erebus. But after the fight with Shadow Makoto they all are in a really vulnerable state, many of them not accepting his death and fighting over it. That's a reason I think the new scene is more fitting than the original, they see their friend vanishing in front of their eyes, like he's dying again. Not disappearing in a gorey way and smiling at the end because "they accepted his death", because at that moment of the story they don't accept shit.

Welp, here's my hot take, I think the Reload version is fine. I'd go as far as to say that, it's a bit more fitting of P3 The Answer's theme of dealing with grief People tend to think of Reload as sort of a replacement/definitive version when in reality it is just a different take on the original. The FES version highlighted the creepiness of this shadow MC, while Reload highlights its tragic nature. Notice how Reload actually shows SEES' reactions to his disappearance instead of just cutting to them later. In FES, SEES realized the artificiality of this shadow, while in Reload the SEES team, Aigis especially, is still grieving over his loss which makes the scene more "emotional" Also, Reload's disappearance was foreshadowed by the opening, so there's that. I will admit, I kinda dig the edginess of FES, but people claim that Reload's version is "soulless" which I feel like is a very reductive take. You wanna see Reload missing the point? Look no further than what they did to Yukari's scene after the coliseum fight. Holy shit.

Honestly i prefer the new one as someone who’s first play through of persona 3 FES was a month before the remake was announced Yes persona 3 FES was supposed to be nightmare fuel and give you a sense of finality seeing how death is messed up with how graphic it is tearing away the human body to leave the “spirit” to show the gruesome reality of it to face the fact of death. But the remake takes it in a new way where it shows that death isnt that bad and can inherently be seen as beautiful really. As well as it could be much more fitting as the shadow is practically all the regrets of the team given form its more beautiful scenery could symbolize that even though you have regret when someone passes, finally letting go of it and coming to terms with it is beautiful. Its the same message just in different perspectives Edit: for my grammar mistakes cuz holy hell the run on sentences I wrote-

This is shown again against Erebus where they refuse to run knowing they helped make that Erebus, taking responsibility for their mistaken thoughts. It can be sad, but ??? really should reinforce how SEES are messing up, stuck in the past when they know they shouldn't be. Their Persona literally warp space and time as the DLC's premise in response to their grief, they need to be better.

you are totally entitled to your opinion, however the edginess is apart of p3 and them removing doesn't change it or improve it, it just removes a lot of the nuance that was in the original imo

Denying how edgy P3 was is just denying how the 2000s was 😂, all it was is an imagery of humans beneath our skin? How is it more edgy that trying to take down *bad adults* and police??

@@justmundane All the edgy death did is just be edgy for sake of looking edgy with fans deciding to add depth to it to not make it totally pointless. The party flat out ignore what happened and move on despite all of them grieving about him. It added nothing to the scene. In comparison, the new version puts a larger focus on the characters - especially Aigis - reacting to watching Makoto fade away on them. The original is creepy but overall worthless while the new one focuses on the melachony they feel at losing him and having to watch him fade away from their life again. I'd rather have that solemn expression over an edgy scene that the characters don't react to at all.

@@alexandersmith4731 First, why the crack at Persona 5? Second, the reason it's more edgy than Persona 5 is that it is edge for the sake of edge. No one reacts to it. It's creepy for the sake of creepy and feels out of place for the story and emotions being told. Replacing the creepy one with the new one did nothing to the story.
