I'm actually playing through P4G for the first time right now and I totally agree with this. It seems like in both story pacing and gameplay/system pacing P5 & P5R are much faster and easier to navigate. This is likely due to increased hardware capabilities but it was something I had to adjust to!

[Minor/Major Spoilers Ahead] One recurring color in the game is used very rarely; gold. It can (in my memory) be found on a few main characters in the Metaverse: The Wardens/Lavenza, Yaldabaoth, Maruki, Shadow Shido, Akechi, and Sumire. It's possible it means literally nothing, but I like to think it could mean a few things. I mean, it's always used very sparingly, for highlights and lining, with the exception of Maruki. It's possible it represents power, because, with the exception of Sumire, all of the characters are very powerful. On another hand, it could represent blindness, selfishness, or misguidance, because all of the characters are very misguided or selfish in one way or another. Though this could all be blown out of the water, considering that Joker has as much gold as Sumire, and if I'm including her for that much gold, I have to include him... Anyway, that would support the power argument. Just an interesting thought I had, probably leads nowhere. I just like gold. Not to sound like a broken record, but I also like this channel, if you didn't notice the hundred pointless essays I've written at this point. Keep up the good work! I hope these comments make the algorithm like your videos just a little bit more.

To me the black/white theming gave me film noir vibes. In general, two things that p5r remind me of, would be 90s hip hop scene and detective crime dramas or heist/james bond movies. 90s hip hop thanks to the "loud" disorganized style. The city and team doing graffiti, the urban undertones in the game, such as the usage of public transport, the school life, along with the fact that the members are treated as outsider petty criminals by the surroundings, with two members being considered as "gangsters" because of them being accused of assault. But all that attitude is clashed by an elegance that comes with the metaverse. The phantom thieves wear fancy outfits, the "palaces", the idea of infiltration and taking down corrupt individuals in position of country wide power, the whole james bond energy with sneaking around in aristocratic rich areas, the lo-fi jazzy setting outside the metaverse. Leblanc itself. Again, the city setting with the high rise buildings can also remind of fancy settings used for fancy genres, like new york... And I just remembered that new york itself has this dichotomy among how people perceive it. Never been to the US, so never been to new york, however media often seems to portray it either as this expensive, busy cultural center where a protagonist, who is secretly a superhero, works a luxurious office job, or this place that hosts a lot of people involved in underground hobbies It is like it summarizes the group: yes they are a group of rebellious teens, but they have honor and are not just gangsters who want to go on a blind justice run to terrorise some bad guys. They want to change and inspire. Their schemes are grand and ambitious In fact, the whole idea reminds me a lot of lupin the third. Except it doesn't have the rebellious "shady hood wearing teen" tone persona 5 royal has adopted to the mix

The thing is, I struggle to explain *why* I love this game so much, like you, I’m not normally a JRPG fan, but like you, I was drawn to persona 5 Royal for whatever reason. When I think about the game and the actions you can do, it sounds so tedious and boring, you talk to someone, get a rank up, go to the movies and a point up, improve your guts by making curry, talk to someone else to get their rank up, walk through a palace, do some battles, repeat 500 times until you beat game, something interesting happens everyone now and then. If someone were to tell me about what you do in persona before I played it, I would think it to be tedious. But I was drawn to it and it became one of my favourite games. I think it may be the beautifully written characters and story, but even so, on my new game+ where I skipped all the story, I still enjoyed the game, so even the gameplay is incredibly enjoyable to me. I love every aspect of this game and I feel it will forever be one of my favourite games of all time, even if I never understand why.

I came up with that title before I knew about that video but after I saw it I realized that the titles were similar and it honestly worked as a bit of a playful jab so I left it lol!

I think you would the the xenoblade series as that has real time combat. It can be overwhelming and chaotic at first but once you get the hang of it its really fun. They also have amazing an amazing ost (not nearly as phenomenal as presona 5 but still excellent) and the storys are phenomenal. I highly recommend you play the first game with English voices as adam howden does a truly phenomenal performance as the main lead shulk. As well as other outstanding performances from the other actor's. The English dub for the original xenoblade chronicles has some of the best voice acting i have ever heard and is one of the best English dubs ever. Its as good as they cowboy bebop dub.

i still might not like JRPGs other than persona since 5 is the reason i got Royal, P4 and P3FES and played the localized version of P1 (didnt really like it tbh), but i can appreciate the genre more and wanna try the mainline SMT games

I feel really similarly to this! I've never really been an RPG guy but for whatever reason P5 and especially P5R just really did it for me, so much so that P5R has probably become my all time favorite game! Right now I'm working through Persona 4 Golden and I'm really enjoying it. I'm also eagerly looking forward to the nocturne remake so I can get into mainline SMT!

I'm gonna be honest, Persona 5 was the gate way for me to fall in love with JRPGs as a whole. I used to not like JRPGs at all, then Joker was announced for Smash Ultimate and I like checking out the games of characters I find interesting and the style and music of P5 really caught my eye (and ear) and after playing it it quickly became my favorite game and got me to try out other JRPG such as SMT, Tokyo Mirage Session, more turn based Final Fantasies, and Xenoblade Chronicles. Basically Persona 5 made me a JRPG addict and I don't want to let go of it

You and me both brother. I recommend you start ff7 remake for a rpg it's actually quite fast pace playing through the game you never feel like you have to grind up to beat a boss usually it's a skill issue.
