Akane's story is probably one of my favorites in this game. I love how she and Zenkichi finally get to start healing their relationship and her creating the cognitive Phantom Thieves out of her mental dissonance is such a cool moment. She's literally fighting the Phantom Thieves with her idealized version of who the Phantom Thieves are. I also think this jail does the best job of connecting its "Deadly Sin," to its "Heavenly Virtue," via the practice of its appropriate, "spiritual discipline." In this case, Akane's Jail is the Shrine/Temple of "Wrath," where she out of her anger and pain she attempts to enact her own form of justice on the evildoers of the world. This "Wrath," is ultimately defeated through the discipline/power of "Forgiveness," and the resulting virtue that comes from the healing of Akane and Zenkichi's relationship is that of "patience," or the ability to endure great trial and difficulty.

Then again, Joker vs Joker gives a major play in the Leader facing himself. The symbolism? Maybe his own self doubt in all of this. I mean, he’s been falsely accused twice over the span of (quite possibly) 2 years and we don’t see him simply being shaken, but he might as well have some haunting memories of his past days.

I recall someone made palace themes for the confidants and characters, and Mishimas had a comment about how his palace would work. The whole phantom thieves thing and fighting shadows was a big thing, the only difference was that he saw Joker as invincible, you had to do send a member to cut the puppet strings. This gave me heavy vibes off that and i think that commenter is happy to see this

Protag probably: "I can wholeheartedly assure you dear, *we didn't.* Tbh I LOVE the phantom thieves fighting near equally talented copies of themselves sans persona. It's a completely badass concept, kinda wish we had gotten the copies in slightly more "heroic" colorways/alternative costumes for Akane's cognitive versions though. Also, Zen is the ABSOLUTE F*CKING FARTHEST from the top of the crappiest dad list as far as the Persona universe is concerned. Hell, he's right between Dojima and Sojiro for BEST.

The fight between the phantom thieves and the shadow thieves got me thinking. "What if there was a persona 5 game where the phantom thieves have to go against like these anti thieves or phantom mercenaries?" Like they're the same but different. Like taking the duality of joker and akechi and applying it to the whole group. They could be like hit men or some kind of countermeasure to try and stop the phantom thieves. I even made up codenames for them. Joker- Jack Skull- Crossbones Panther- Tiger Mona- Mori Fox- Jackal Queen- Empress or Regent Oracle- Sibyl Noir- Nero Crow- Raven Violet- Orchid

Somethong I noticed is that the theme of each jail until now are the same as the palaces of P5, in order words, each jail have the same sin as the palaces in their respective order Examples: Alice/Kamoshida: Lust Ango/Madarame: Vanity Mariko/Kaneshiro: Gluttony Akane/Futaba: Wrath And so on

They also subvert it, Kamoshida lusted after others and he expected admiration, Alice made others lust after her and wanted admiration after being denied it for so long. Madarame was ok stealing others work, Ango actually hated it but felt forced to hos shadow being a "demon" almost makes it seem like he sees it as a necessary evil. Kaneshiro was hoarding money for himself, Mariko was trying provide more for others to excess. Futaba had wrath towards herself for a bad thing she felt responsible for, Akane was furious at her father for she assumed was an bad thing he chose to do.

4:13 Question for y'all: So Zenkichi says that he's not a detective, but a public safety officer and he's currently investigating a case. P4 Dojima is called a detective by all the policemen and was investigating the murder cases. They're both policemen, but do they actually have different enough jobs/titles for Zenkichi to correct them every time?

Yes, it's different. Detectives are private hired to investigate specific stuff and Officers are directly hired by government or police.

Japanese word "刑事(keiji)" is usually translated to "detective" but they are not exactly the same. "Keiji" means police officers who investigate general crime cases like murder or theft. They are the major part of police organization. Zenkichi is a member of Public Security, another part of police organization, which handles special cases.

I have the feeling that I am missing something as I read the comments about the shadow fakes. Those are cognitive versions of them made up by Akane. There is no longer a shadow when someone awakenes to their persona. You could say a shadow is a pre-evolution of a persona aka a persona is the tamed shadow-self. The "I'll face myself" version might be funny but their story is way different to Persona 4...
