Whenever I get the chance, I visit the dog and the girl in Yongen-Jaya to check on Kotaro in hopes that he'll be fine... And I doubt he's a reference to Hachiko since I think he dies in the end from old age and not from missing his owner. The little girl does not die. I would not consider this "small details easily missed" since this isn't relevant to the plot or the main characters and doesn't seem like a reference either. They're just like any other NPC.

Another few cool details near the beginning of the game: (POSSIBLE EARLY-GAME SPOILERS) Ryuji, when reminded of his leg in situations such as Mishima saying "You know that better than anyone else" when told about nothing will help the Volleyball team, will start twitching his leg around. He does this at other moments too. Also, when "standing straight", only one of his legs are usually straight from what I noticed. I could be wrong about that second thing. Another thing is within the cutscene at Kamoshida's Palace Collapse, it shows their abilities decreasing from no longer being in a palace by Morgana turning into a cat and Ryuji's leg starting to hurt.

Basically everyone holding the sign during their turn reveal a bit of themselves. Aside from Ryuji, Joker is holding the sign in one hand as if he is a veteran in criminal activities. Morgana is holding the sign with two hand and his teeth bearing out, with a glint in his eye. The sign is too big for him, but he is as ferocious as everyone else on the team. Ann is holding the bottom edge of the sign with one hand in a charming way, and this draws similarity to catgirl, whom Ann admires. Yusuke is carrying the sign with his right arm, with a slight aloof in his face. This reflects his calm mind and aloofness as an artist. Makoto is holding the top edge of the sign like a handle bar, which represents her rebellious attitude and desire for freedom. Haru is holding the sign like a beauty thief should, she is also a charming girl, but more deceptive than Ann, just like Milady. Akechi is looking sideway when holding the sign, with his right hand resting on his chin as if he is thinking. This tells us that he had a hard time deciding being a phantom thief or following the idea of justice.

I love these small details especially Joker's proficiency. I got other small details to list out. I hope you make a part 2! Maybe list out all the references from the TV. Also when the MC, Yusuke and Makoto visit Futaba's room after she is rescued. Yusuke rearranged Futaba's Phoenix Ranger figures into poses of the Ginyu Force from Dragon Ball Z. Futaba also made several references to other real life games such as Smash Bros during her social link. She even mentions a Goho-M. When the player buys and fixes the laptop in their room, they can access a shady website showing Tanaka, the salesman from the catchy TV shopping program from P3/P4. If you have the home decoration "Kumade", from taking Yusuke to Meiji Shrine (I think), Teddie appears as part of the decoration. "Kuma" also means "Bear" in Japanese, the bear puns never ends. The Junes theme song also plays while playing the crane machine in Akihabara.

There’s a small detail in the game that could actually help your gameplay: once the Phantom Thieves reached max popularity and Shibuya stores began selling Phantom Thieves merchandises, you can buy a “calling card postcard” and mail it to one of your confidants through a mailbox near Leblanc. This gives you a little bit of relationship points toward whichever confidant you’re mailing to and could help you rank up faster! This detail is so easy to miss because the game gave NO clues that you can do this, and this option is only available for a couple days (around the time of Okumura’s palace before the Thieves got blamed for murder and their popularity goes down)

Except for the fact that absolutely NO ONE thought Crow was on the side of the Phantom Thieves. I mean, even if he had NOT betrayed them he was blackmailing them into disbanding anyway which is almost as bad. He was never a Phantom Thief nor on their side, which is obvious since he's named after Kogoro Akechi (the Japanese counterpart of Sherlock Holmes) who in his first novel faces off against The Fiend of Twenty Faces (Arsene Lupin's counterpart). It's also thought that the name for goro may also partially come from Mitsuhide Akechi, who betrayed Oda Nobunaga (thus he's also referencing a betrayer).

When you go to fuse Arsene for the first time, there's a cutscene and he hints that Arsene will return in "that day". In the menu right before New Game Load Game, the clock, which Morgana sits on, shows the actual hour based on your ps4 date. Also, if you choose config, Futaba will never return to her sit. About Lavenza, it's very easy to miss her confession on 12/24. When you are going to beat the Grail the 2nd time, go to the velvet room, talk to her as you show her the bookmark Justine gave you as reward for winning battle against the twin. Lavenza confesses both of them and Lavenza love mc. You know for sure P5 is in the same world with P3 and P4 and timeline in P5 because you see Rise poster in the subway + Ann will give you the poster as gift + TV does mention about Rise, 20 years old, famous. Also, Lavenza seems to be the youngest sister because after the battle with the twin, Caroline says how she is going to talk about losing to a mc to her older sisters.

I saw all of those on my first playthrough except the idol poster and Ann in the loading screen. Also, you missed the mysterious voice in the Velvet Room, if you decide instead of leaving when prompted in the Velvet Room while in the Metaverse only and then select to lie down on the bed you'll be scolded by Caroline and then hear a distorted version of the butterfly's voice give you a hint as to what happens later on in the game. As you progress in the palaces and do this again the voice will get less distorted until finally you reach "a certain point in the game" where the voice will no longer be distorted and you can hear the mysterious voice speak to you in full.

I like to think its the reverse. When you acknowledge the Phantom Thieves are a work of real fiction, yet play it through all the way to the end, the fact that you become so emotionally invested is what keeps them alive before they can become erased Since you're one of the few who maintain their connection to the main characters and remember them, that in essence is what keeps them alive despite, like everyone else, not really holding any real bond with the characters in the beginning.

Nah, it isn't forced. The game plays with the idea of cognition. In Persona 3 and Persona 4 you had to make certain "contracts" to begin the game, and they are in-game actual things. This is the most apparent in P3 where you are forced to acknowledge that "your actions are your own and you will face their consequence", in other words the "death" the protagonist suffers at the end is the end result of his contract from the very start of the game. In a similar form, the game seems to low-key want you to acknowledge the non-existence of the people in the story. Through the entire story your protagonist is refered as being part of an "unjust game" that's been rigged against him. After all, this is the only Persona game that actually FORCES YOU to admit it is fictional. It's not telling you it is fictional, it wants you to admit it is fictional. You even get booted out to the menu screen if you don't agree.

About the crane game machine, if you go play it on the 7th/17th/27th day of the month, Morgana would tell you that you may be luckier because the date has the number 7. Whether that actually affects your chance at snagging the prize I don't know.

Found another cool detail! If you see Justine outside the Velvet Room door and she's spinning her checklist, you can check the list in more detail by zooming in. The contents cannot be read because it's too small but the cool part is the back cover where it reads "Le Grimoire" which is translated to "The Grimoire". Grimoire is a French term to describe a magic book of secrets. Margaret from Persona 4, also carries a book with the same title "Le Grimoire". Maybe a tiny reference to her?

I noticed that the party members IM icons' background colors are the same as their gloves for their PT costumes, except for one, whose gloves are white and icon is dark blue. Also there is an effect during battles that looks like pages being turned in a flip book when one turn ends and another begins. The color of this depends on the party member who has the current turn and is also the same color as their gloves, except Morgana, who doesn't wear gloves.

So freaking useful in the early game and I only found it during my NG+. The funny reference there is the names of the drinks, which are hilarious references to real life drinks. This game also makes some references to another game Hashino directed: Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne. Some of the references include the return of Slime Mara, Futaba's outfit having lines similar to Demi-Fiend's tatoos, and also Thor being the final enemy in the arena in the casino. In Nocturne the player has to fight a gauntlet of enemoes in an arena in order to escape capture, and the final opponent is Thor. In the casino's arena tje final enemy is also Thor.

Something small I noticed, though I'm not sure if it's just an active joke or a reference, is that the majority of rentable DVDs are knock-off versions of American titles (with names like Bubbly Hills, Guy McVer, and The X Folders, instead of Beverly Hills, Mc Gyver, and The X Files). There's a few details that were missed. One of which is a bit of a Devil Summoner reference. There's a foreign barker in Shibuya that appears at night. Sometimes with a cat. If you listen, he's talking to the cat and it appears that he understands what the cat is saying and the cat understands what he is saying. Reference to Raidou Kuzunoha and Gouto Douji. At the same time, the Foreign Barker may also be a reference to Simon from Durarara with the exception that Simon is from Russia and the Barker is from the USA.

Most people know each palace is based on the seven deadly sins, but the reason Satanael uses a bullet made of the seven deadly sins, is because each Phantom Thief represents one sin as well. Although it was 8 sins in Latin, thus each character accounts for their own sin, with Yusuke displaying gluttony( as he is usually found over indulging in his passion, and food) , Ryuji wrath (Short temper), and Futaba displaying sloth (Obvious reasons)
