You couldn’t fight with humans in the original game or in Nocturne. You had human allies in SMT 1,2, and 4 before this game

In 4 they were more like support characters instead of actually being part of the party, you don't get to pick what they do in battle.

Also no Doi is the new demon designer for SMT. The classic one is Kazuma Kaneko, he's designed all the ones you see in Persona and all SMT games except for the new ones in V

Fenrir has been a classic SMT design but this is his first time in a mainline 3D Game. He's been limited to the 2D games and Persona Q before now

@@blazed185 Of course! Honestly I think Vengeance will be the first time I beat an SMT game, with Nocturne and the Creation route I stopped around the 20 hour mark for both, but with the QoL changes it feels more smooth to play already

@@ChocolateKieran I suggest you to play Creation first if you have time at your disposal. These two routes complements each other. Vengeance route is where you tie all loose ends in Creation's ending routes, and you'll be rewarded with a surprise *redacted* if you play Vengeance on your Creation NG+ clear file.

I like Persona as much as I like most Megaten subseries. But main SMT is definetely my shit. Persona games have excellent story and characters. But I'm personally not that into school life and dating school students 😅 only SMT if..., III and V has students protags and school doesn't really matter because world is crashed or is crashing from the very beginning. In change, the post apocaliptic setting, the idea of rebuild the universe, the ideological conflicts and moral decisions, the alignments, the well implemented esoteric elements directly in your face, the cyberpunk + the occult from most of the games, the more mythological elements from the exceptions, the mysterious but so human stories (which I think only failed in V vanilla bc IV, SJ, I, II are very good in this) and of course, the super funny demon conversations. It's not just "the challenge and combat" (although those are excellent too). But the clear symbolism of the games and the very personal story you experience too that teaches you more about yourself. Anyways, Persona, Devil Summoner, Devil Survivor, Digital Devil Saga, etc also share some of these elements, they all have the mystery, the spiritual elements, and of course, the entertainment factor, even if they're in different tone and different kind of story. That's why I love Megaten. So much variety.

Same here. I started with the Persona games and Persona 3 is still my favourite video game ever, but as a whole I prefer mainline to Persona nowadays

My only issue is I still haven't finished an SMT game, so when I finish the Vengeance Route I'll see how I feel as a whole, then likely get back to Nocturne too! Had a lot of fun streaming Vengeance today though, excited about playing more!

it funny despite what you'd think, almost every mainline smt game besides nocturne has you have a human party member in battle in some way. 4 is weird about it, but 1 and 2 had permenant members plus some that would rotate out

Yeah I know, it’s the “definitive addition” like I said in the intro. I still need to play Royal though! It came out just as I finished original 5 so I got burned out 😭

Nah not really. She is the extreme of both ends and a very integral part of Vengeance. Unlike Kasumi, Marie and Alex, Yoko Hiromine insert herself pretty smoothly throughout the story and doesn't feel forced into the narrative. She is kinda how Maya would be if she is constantly asking extreme questions about your faith.
